Hi,

I've currently had a manual Outlaw as a company car for the last three years and been pleased with it. I've done over 85,000 miles and got 36mpg over Highland roads and some motorways. I'm due to change and I'm thinking of replacing it with the same but with an auto gearbox. Can I get your views please? What's the mpg likely to be?

Thanks.

I drive my Euro IV auto like I stole it and just can't get it over 21.4mpg without some tuning help....Definitely don't get it when you are bothered about mpg, otherwise it is the better option...

Early auto D40's aren't bad at all on fuel, i've heard and spoken to owners though who've claimed 30+MPG

With the later ones though, it's a different story, mine's a 57 plate auto, and i'd be excited if i saw 22mpg

Lovely drive though, especially at 2mph when stuck in traffic, who wants to be pushing a clutch peddle in those conditions?

Or at 100mph when you get a double kickdown with the double DTE box and get launched whilst still doing nearly 28mpg

The reason i bought an auto ? ....i prefer the look of the gear change to the conventional gear stick ...never entered my head to compare the mpg ... what a prick !!

I'm pleased your amused lads ... my old mam (god rest her soul)was right when she constantly told me that i must have been a millionaire in a former life.. my pockets are allergic to cash !!.. i never think of the practicalities of life .. only after the event.

I do love my Nav though ... i've never been attached to any former vehicles but finally i've found motor utopia ... i can fit in the Nav with comfort (i'm a big fella) ... it feels right :D
