Hi all,
i own a 2002 NISSAN NAVARA D22 DX Dual Cab 3.0L td.
the late week my engine light has been coming on 6 seconds after starting the car everytime .
i have lost alot of power from the car
it is hard to start in the mornings
it blow (ALOT) of blue smoke
it just wont move off the line unless i ride the clutch

to try to solve the problem i have.
Put a new fuel filter in.
put a new air filter in.
taken off turbo pipeing, and the turbo.
my throttle and vacume lines have been removed and cleaned.
Ive reset ecu fuse, and battery terminal.

id like some help for my next step or hints wat to try next.

thnx ur navara member Scot.

Smoke smells very rich, like to much burnt oil?

P.S i just rang nissan dealer an they said 90% chance its my airflow meter? i didnt even no i had one... though my model doesnt have one....
you don't have an airflow meter (maf) only a boost sensor.
even if faulty its not going to be the cause of the smoke.

you either have lots of blowby or leaking turbo seals. unfortunately yours is the years they had lots of piston failures so it could well be cracked pistons.
call in to http://www.navara.asia/forum.php that engine is the common one downunder.

Is it running rough on tickover mate? If so i'm inclined to say it maybe a piston problem :( If your Nav is running sound on tickover then i would say a turbo seal has gone.

well once the car on about 60 kmh its not to bad, runs slugish but ok. its done 200,000 k's an allways been serviced every 5000k's. its hard to get moving but once it does it is (drivable). am doing more damage to it driving it? I have it Booked in Thursday for a computer scan. problem is i live in the bush. its hard to get it to joints... and i don't have another car to tow it.
Ive been told by Nissan cracked pistons are not worth replacing... its time for a new engine!?!????. Are pistons hard to install? is a new motor hard to install?? witch way should i leen towards? :(

*** go shoot that dumb nissan dealer you have there
pistons are easy enough to replace. the question will be how worn is the bore and other parts. one catch can be the counter balancer bearings. it should be no problem for a engine builder, just not a back yard job.

driving its not the best but if you can limp it and get the codes read its a start. also get a compression check done. they are typically a bit on the low side but if its way low pistons could have gone.
just pay to make sure its not something as simple as leaking turbo seals and fowled boost sensor (rare but can happen).
if compression is low i would rip the head off and take a look.

soon as i got onto the freeway the car stoped smokeing an was runing (suprisingly) good.

ive asked for a scan for a error code and a compresion test. ill lets yas know how it goes.

You could have a fuel injection problem

Hi all
Just got a call about my car, the bloke said the injector pump has gorn.
2500$?$?$?$!?!!?!?!! why does a new one cost so much......
Ive been to the wreckers an got priced 700$ for a very good 2nd hand one. with 3month warranty.

i dont rly have the money for a new one.. is a 2nd hand one ok?? should i ask for a longer warranty??

ive been told ive had a mass on dirty fuel in my car?? does it need to be bled? does the tank need to be dropped and cleaned?

yes the pumps cost that, plus another big chunk to fit it. they are expencive pumps. common rail are worse, one guy had to get a whole new injection system after a **** load of water got into the fuel.......$15k to replace it !
dirty fuel stuffs the pumps up very quickly.

as they are expensive it pays to make sure they get it right. a faulty pump will not cause lots of blue smoke. mayby black smoke, not blue.

first thing........what the result of the error code check?

did they do a compression check?

white smoke while its cold could be pump (rare), but normally its dead glowplugs. the other semi common thing is leaking oil out of the turbo. normally it will blow a blue smoke as well.
