Any tips on the best 'easy on/easy off' wax for a black Nav ??, being disabled it can take me a while to get round my truck, and even doing one panel at a time the wax sometimes dries before I can get to wiping it off !! :frown2: so I need a good easy on/off wax !!!.

The first important thing about car polishes is to know the manufacturers/retailers/importers have a large budgets to spend on advertising (look at any car magazine). This means claims about product X being superior to product Y are often a bit marginal, and they are nearly all too expensive. They are largely the same. The thing is that people always want to believe that spending a fortune is a good idea, and all the stuff about rare waxes taken from the ears of Komodo lizards or whatever is all tosh - like women's cosmetics products usually are. Same idea in the end!

I've been lucky to have tried a few of the expensive brands used on some of my previous cars (although I didn't have to pay for the polish!), and honestly there's not a huge difference in shine or longevity compared with many cheaper products. The air quality and weather in most of the UK is so bad that the polish is stripped off pretty quickly, so IMHO, best to buy cheap/easy to apply, and use regularly if you care about it. I suspect the easier it is to apply, the quicker it comes off. If you want long-lasting shine you need harder waxes and electric buffing kit....

When my truck got 2 years old I washed and polished it, rather than letting the weather do it for me. I used Halford's Mer Ultimate Shine. It was OK but madly over-priced considering what is in it. Lasted maybe 2 weeks. Certainly easy to get on/take off, but I have a white Nav - any black vehicle is much harder to keep clean and polish up, so I avoid them these days! Also, white is so much better for hot places like Spain/Portugal where I spend a lot of the year.

In the end we have trucks, not concourse-condition exotic cars!

1 application of poorboys black hole ÂŁ15 a bottle and thats enough to do the truck maybe 3 times
East to use too

Thanks for the replies guys, my truck does get used as a truck but I like to treat it to a wax every so often 0:) I've been told about the Autoglym one before so I think I'll give that a try !!! :wink2:

I know it's not technically a proper wax but I always keep a bottle of Auto Glym Aqua Wax. As it's a liquid spray on and wipe off. Again, won't last as long as a proper wax, however, for pure ease of use and time spent I would definitely recommend to you. Didn't expect it to do much but lasted longer than I expected and smells like bubblegum :D

before you do any waxing clean the paint first with a good Quality clay bar follow the instructions its not rocket science and use car shampoo diluted 10:1 in water as lube then when clean wax it any mainstream product will do the same personally I use good old fashioned simoniz wax and seal it afterwards with autoglym extra shine lasts about 6-8 months.

The amount of ***** the clay bar pulls from the paint will shock you the difference in surface feel is huge

We used poor boys on our black d40. A really good product.
Gets my vote 100% too, I love Poorboys stuff. It's well priced, easy to use and bloody good results.
The Nattys Wax is about ÂŁ15 a pot and lasts ages.
Get a clay mitt and polish before waxing if you intend of sealing the truck with wax.

Just remember autoglym super resin polish is a polish not a wax!

Tbh I'd clay bar first, then use the polish, and finish off with the autogynn HD wax

Also Meguires, Dodo Juice, do similar products depend on budget also.. I've used all and all fairly easy to work with.
Had a pot of Zymol concours (ÂŁ80) about the size of a small Bovril jar lasted years, as do most hard waxes.
