Been considering this for a while now and having taken inspiration from these guys:

Has anyone attempted the coast to coast before in a navara? I'm thinking of it next spring, although may wait until later in the summer/Autumn as the ground may be a bit dryer, so plenty of time to prep. At the moment the navara is largely stock, and I don't have loads of cash to spare but any thoughts and advice on the trip and vehicle prep would be welcomed. I 2" lift is on the cards, maybe coupled with a 2" body lift as well. Don't think the snorkel would be necessary though?

Cheers

Looks fun.

In terms of vehicle prep, people get a bit carried away, if you meet an obstacle you cant get through you just go back and take a route you can cope with.
A 2" lift and some AT tyres will be enough. If you want to raise the suspension, add rock sliders, bolt on a winch and add some underbody protection it will make the truck more capable.

Cheers. My co pilot (he doesn't know it yet!) is a fabricator so I'll be persuading him to make me some sliders and protection as his contribution to the trip!

A lot of planning will be needed for the route. You'll need to know the legal access rights on every part of the trip. If private ground is used without a right of way across it you'll need the landowner's permission.

When you're actually doing the run use GPS mapping to ensure you don't stray somewhere you shouldn't be. I find the OS maps available on the ViewRanger GPS app are really handy. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.augmentra.viewranger.android&hl=en

It would make a lot of sense to go with at least one other vehicle should you get stuck.

Thanks. Next year gives enough one to get it sorted. I've done loads of travel and navigation on foot, but this will be the first time in a vehicle. The six P's will be in full effect!

Thinking about doing this at some stage - but probably with a tour company I know who do a 5-day coast-to-coast run :)
