I dont spam here as much as i used too  never seem to have any time these days. Just curious for when i upgrade as to what the cost for the one box is and @ the wheels bhp and what the two box price is and what the increased bhp figures are

Or is a 400 quid remap and a 400 quid exuast the best bet again to get 200+ bhp, only downside to the remap is the warranty issues, but im sure there are, or will be some low mileage navs out there next year. Just need to know what the bhp figures are.

How does it go? Asda...every little helps

Warpa, it is a like a Bentley...The answer to how many BHP is enough...There is no doubt it is adding to the vehicle, trying is believing. The figures really don't matter, well not for me at least. It isn't an upgrade about just more power as there was already enough...It just really nicely compliments the system...

But what confuses me is the interest from yourself, I thought you didn't get on with the DTE system on your truck due to heavy smoking....

Ok mate :salute: , so no info on it at all  Surelly your not spending 2 or3 hundred quid on something that has no figures
I tried the CRD out before I brought. I used JP for a while and as JP said it is how the unit compliments the DTE. The power delivery is smooth, I do not think it has increased the 0 to 60 time and as I am not a boy racer this does not matter. But the mid range torque when you floor it in 6th gear is amazing to a 120+mph (On a private track) comes up so quickly. And this applies to all gears the power is just nice a smooth and you do not have to rev the guts out of it. When I was testing the unit I removed the CRD and noticed the difference so much that I ordered one that day so when I returned JP’s I could fit new one straight away.
As mention I will get the truck on a Rolling Road but work at the moment is more important and I will try to do this with JP if he is free in the New Year.

At the board meeting last Thursday it was announced my contract will be terminated this Friday. So I will have all the time in the world, January is not a good time to look for work :-(

a good example of the power was this morning. The additional box switches on when you rev above 3000. This morning due to the snow I stayed well below that and forgot I hadn't switched it on yet. Then on the m1 I put my foot down to overtake and all of a sudden it kicked in, wow the extra shove was amazing :)

Sorry to hear that JP

January at moment is not to bad for me (I have one week i have to cover Silverstone as my Lad is on his Hols 20th to 27th) so lets get one of our mini meets sorted

A car can have all the power in the world, but its how it drives on the road that counts!!

The CRD box isnt gunna nessecelery add the 30-40bhp when your already are running the DTE unit thats already giving the increase plus air filter etc...., as JP said i would think its just going to compelment the DTE. A diesel is all about Torque not power.

Just like modding any car.

When a company claims a power increase, eg. exhaust or air filter, these parts are fitted to a standard car and the power increase is given over stock figures....

You cant add up the increase like this - remap/box = 40 bhp, air filter = 10bhp, exhaust = 10bhp, Decat 30bhp = 90bhp over standard

My scooby for example parts fitted and claimed increases for each piece of kit, Induction kit 12bhp, exhaust 10bhp, both cats removed 40bhp, boost contoller 30bhp, fuel computer and fuel pump 20bhp, front mount intercooler 10bhp = 122 bhp over standard so that would see the car running 342bhp (220bhp standard) car was dynoed at 301bhp so thats 81 bhp increase some 40ish bhp short if you add it up as above!!!

its doesnt work like that, ever car is different, the mods compelment each other, yes you will see a power gain, but not to the extent of the above, but you will end up with a car thats got more power and alot nicer to drive!!!!

Sorry to hear about the work or lack of JP, Im sure a man of your caliber will find something quickly. :salute: As in my original post i was enquiring about this because when i upgrade ill be stuck with the warranty issues again :? I understand what you are saying about the system complimenting the dte, power is probably the same but a much smoother delivery, costs a fair few quid though.

Speaking about decat, mine will be booked in next week, navara1 just had his done and is very impressed with the response. The reason im getting mine done is because i heard his while on the phone to him, through the scorpion it sound like a bloody v8   I asked him what the hell the noise was and it turned out to be his nav :clappy:

Oh yes, work will be ok. If not in 12 months time then I'll worry :)

is a decat legal? I remember my v12 had a decat as a factory option and at Santa pod I blew all the cats with cats out!

legal - yes!
MOT failure - maybe, depends on the tester - most say if it was on ex factory then it should be on the car. Also if you have a smoker it may fail emisions

Been talking to a few about this recently, as above legal yes. As for the mot i guess its down to emissions, though someone said some do a visual check for it. I would have thought the clean nav would pass without it. Having said that im having it removed but jointed where needed to be refitted for mot purposes.

Lads, a "boy racer" mate of mine was thinking of decat-ting his Golf TDI due to giving extra power, or so he said.

I'm unfamiliar to this territory. What does the CAT do and how will it add power when removed? Is it worth taking off on my Nav? :?:

I'm not super mechanical, but the main thing I can think off is to improve the exhaust flow of the gasses....However I think one has to be careful of the balance between too much flow and decreasing the torque as well....A bit like when the exhaust bore gets too big, it will have an adverse effect...

the cat acts as a restrictor to gas flow, so getting the gases away faster should improve perfomance.
BUT, you need to get more air IN at the same time, so you need some sort of induction kit, like a good cold air feed and the k&n panel filter :thumbleft:
