mine is 3rd gear at 2500 rpm, just coming off a roundabout........ give it "full boot" and the torque is great, speed climbs effortlessly (well, for a diesel truck that is!)

can't stand 1st gear, it's obviously designed for heavy load starts, but 2nd is just too high to start in without riding the clutch too much.

Normal non motorway "plodding along" driving I'm between 1000 and 2500 rpm
If I'm wanting a brisker journey I tend to change gear around 3-3500 rpm so that in the next gear the revs are circa 1800 rpm cos peak torque (AKA Pulling power!) is around 2000rpm and so get good acceleration without reving it too much, which in turn helps the MPG!

BUT, if I'm in  mode, then its simply pedal to the metal and go with the rear tyres [The Mask Voice on/] smoking! [/The Mask Voice]

Which reminds me, do others have as much fun as I do with "tail end out sideways" driving when you're after a bit of fun. Obviousley not on busy roads or in built up areas.
I find it very controllable, being able to throw the back end out as and when I want, but being able to bring everything back into line when needed.

Hmmmmm, this makes me sound like a 20 yr old boy racer rather than the 40 yr old fart I really am!

Best fun I've had in a vehicle since I sold my scoob 8)

Bob - 3rd day off work with a stinking cold not earning a penny :(

best thing with the auto is that its always at peak torque, just under 3K RPM its brilliant :)

4th, just starting to climb Cain hill in Devizes at 40mph. Giving it a boot full at the bottom of the hill has that turbo is whistling away at at 2000rpm all the way to the top. Coolant tops out at 105 degrees. Clouds of black smoke bellow out the back. I know its a bit *******, but rolling coal. ?
