Just bought a 2013 Tekna with 17k on the clock, as replacement for a Defender.

First impressions are very positive but am worried about some of the issues raised on this website - chassis rust, timing chains etc. Not sure how relevant they are to my model or what should be done about them. Hopefully, the various threads will cast some useful light and my feedback will prove beneficial to others!

Welcome to the nnnet forum.
To be honest, I would check the chassis inside out and get it treated. If the chassis checked out ok then do the EGR blank. Get a conversion kit on the timing chain and you have a solid truck you're going to enjoy to death.
If you plan on towing with it get a smf flywheel conversion as well. Unless it's a auto of course. ?

Hi Simon, :welcome

It sounds like you've got yourself a good low mileage truck. Enjoy it.

The 190 version of the YD25 engine is less prone to the timing chain snapping than the earlier D40s, although it can happen as it's still a single chain driving a duplex upper setup. You've got a few miles to do before you have to worry about that though.

As for the chassis rust, yours is young enough for the tin-worm not to have had much effect on the chassis, it will be well worth giving your chassis a full internal and external treatment to preserve its condition.
