Power Loss at Full Throttle

Hi Guys,

Weird stuff happening as soon as my engine is up to temperature (after 15 mins or so of driving). 2006 D40 Kingcab with mods as listed in signature....

If I accelerate at full throttle it feels like the engine starts choking at about 3000RPM, like you have hit the rev limiter really early or the turbo is choking up? The exhaust note gets noticeably louder and the rpm stay flat with the engine spluttering.

If i accelerate just under full throttle it is fine?

Any idea?

Thanks

I get that also, power seems to disappear when I put my foot down. I take my foot off the accelerator for a second, the power then comes back.

It's usually when I've booted it from a standing start, so maybe it's second gear for me as mines an auto.

Its really prominent in 2nd gear, and apparent in 3rd 4th. It seems to be only at harsh acceleration. It feels like the turbo is choking? Because of custom exhaust i can hear exactly what the turbo is doing and it feels like it chokes and blocks power under really harsh acceleration?

Good news, it proves the point of doing the simple stuff first.:awesomework

It will still be worth you doing all of the other stuff in the guide I posted to you as a good piece of preventative maintenance.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but its a continuation.

I have done all things needed to maintain it and since having the fuel filter swapped that hesitation/misfire problem is gone! The truck in general now just feels down on power, maybe ive just been driving it a while now and got used to it! but maybe there is something else?

Anyone recommend a company that will do a good remap in surrey?
