Hi, I posted this once before but less members then and not a huge amount of feedback. The heated seats in my truck work occassionaly, in general they don't heat up. I have taken back to the dealer, twice, both times they report no problems having checked the wire resitances. I am going to have a third attempt but wondered if anyone else had this problem, if so how was it fixed?

some usefull info, how long do they take to heat, are they warm to touch?

My seats take about 5 minutes to heat up and then they are fairly warm to the touch. They seem to take a lot longer than my brothers passat which is not far off instant with 5 or 6 settings.

I think the heated seats are a bit like the heater in these trucks - adequate and slow to get going.

Had heated seats in my Patrol and they took around 5-10 mins to warm up. These were leather seats fitted so maybe slower not to 'cook' them being skins and never got 'hot' only luke warm to touch.

I don't rate the heated seats much at all. Assuming mine are working as they should, they are luke warm at best with the occassional blast of heat for a few seconds here and there.

I usually get to where I'm going before I even notice they're on....

Think I'll have to plonk myself on the passenger side at some point to see what that ones like....

Give me some seats with a setting you can cook a full English on! :D

Passenger side one in the mrs Nav doesn't work at all (even the light doesn't come on the switch)

After removing a couple of hundred copies of OK/ Heat / Closer magazine from the footwell , I spotted an unplugged cable under the seat... must get around to fixing it, even if the light coming on is only placebo effect ;)


Why is it women can't keep a vehicle tidy (or when they put something in the garage / shed it just gets dumped in a big pile directly at the foot of the entrance door :roll: ). But leave a scatter cushion in the lounge a millimetre out of place and there's all hell to pay :?: :?:

I can drive the 12 miles to work and not even notice there own, they are lukewarm to touch at best. The low setting appears only to be the light! occassionaly they do heat up and are warm, prior to switching themsefs off again. The trucks a 57 plate and battery good.

Mine work ok, slow to heat as with others.

They must have some sort of thermostat on them as they get hot, cool off, then get hot again, etc. etc.

Doesnt seem to be a big difference between high and low setting.

Also is there some sort of sensor so they only work when sat on?

I have had heated seats in 4 volvos, two alfas, one vectra and current pick-up. Pick-up is the only one where I cannot tell if they are on or off. However, dealer has said twice there fine. Hence the querry, the trucks booked in for a faulty passanger door lock so getting it checked again.

bar the heated seats, door lock, replacement fuel pump & fuel rail, failed rear diff and a couple of bumper resprays (my fault) can say the navs been pretty good. Volvo XC90's on the other hand absolutely horrendous, but hot seats!

Wifes car, Ford SMAX zetec, no heated seats or cruise control, come on ford....
