my name is Harry T. from the States, and I own a 1995 petro powered pathfinder. I really want to own and drive a diesel D40 Navarra truck but we do not have any diesel Navarra in the States. Since there are no diesel navarras in the States, and the government will not allow it into the States because of certain regulations, I want to build my own Navarra with a D40 engine with a 5-speed gearbox. I want to replace my petro powered nissan engine with a nissan navara D-40 diesel engine. I believe that I can import a D40 engine and gearbox from oversea because the law is not as strict as importing a diesel vehicle into the state.
I like to know if anyone here in the forum has done something like this, and what most needed parts under the bonnet I need to have along with an engine and gearbox in order to do the conversion. I am assuming that I would need to have the engine ECU and fuel injection ECU? i have done successful conversion with an Isuzu Trooper. I learn to like to spec on the Navarra D40 engine much better- more power and better fuel mileage.
Any feedbacks and lead on a cheap & good running D40 engine are greatly appreciated. Cheers, Harry

Welcome, not many from the US on here.

If you have a browse around you will find that the 05 to 08 Navaras have a rust problem in the UK and Ireland due to the amount of rock salt on the roads. Nissan are buying them back, so I would guess that there must (somewhere) be fields full of rusty Navaras with good mechanicals.

Thank you. Any leads where I can find these rusty Navara trucks with good mechanicals are greatly appreciated. What are the names of some online popular auto adverts or classified papers or websites I may find these rot-out Navara trucks?

The d40 diesel is a Good motor but has 1 weakness !!!
The timing chain if your doing a engine swop be sure you change the timing chain as you'll kick yourself in the **** if you get it all fitted and running then the chain snaps
plenty of threads regarding this
how come your swoping from petrol anyway its not even an option over here even though most of us would have one if it were possible
