Question, Has any one fitted a CB radio in there D40 and if you have where did you fit it and do they work ok in a Navara, I am going green laning in a couple of weeks and want to fit one to stay in touch with the other guys, all help will be much appreciated. Spike

Thanks guys, went outside to have a look at doing this and got side tracked on other jobs, on my "company" vehicle you can see in the picture, the Ariel is on the machine as the Tractor just gives out to much interference the point I was trying to get at earlier, Picture was taken last summer time, it was a bit drier then, Yes Rob know all about the fiberglass problems and poor ground plane, might have a look to see if I can make a bracket to fit on one of the cross bars, or failing that just whack the old trusty K40 on it's magnet in the middle of the cab roof. Just fixed a CB in mine, its a remote head unit type so the main unit is fitted away from the head unit. Managed to fit it in the box above the stereo so it's out of sight when not in use.

aaah memories! used to use a cb radio years ago as a hobbie. I had an old Laffyette 1200 and my handle was ''red october'' :lol: :salute: And its still out in the shed somewhere!!
The range u get depends on your set ( the good ones would have a higher output or boost to the antenna) or on your antenna. Where u place the antenna on your truck/4X4 also would have a factor on the range. Im sure u can buy like an amp or booster to boost your signal, but your mates would need one two if they are out of normal range.

You guys over there in the Motherland lead very sheltered lives ! Here in W.A. in our 4x4 club nobody goes out without a UHF set. Usually a 40 channel and most clubs and caravans are on channels 13 to 17. In my D22, my Uniden is fitted in an Outback Accessories roof console. Fits in place of the center light and is easy to fit. 10 min max !! Get out there !!
