Swapped the entire aircon clutch unit over from a 2nd hand 2014 one. Had my aircon serviced the otherday and found the wire had been broken off the magnet.... just had the system charged too so had to replace without removing the compressor out of the truck. Not a job i would recommend, ask my arms :(. All works now tho so bring on the heat!

All this talk of tyres has obviously jinxed me, as I ended up with a flat.

Managed to get it fixed by my local fitter, but while there also ordered my new set of Coopers. Gone for the AT3 Sport in 365/60/18. My fitter could supply and fit them for ÂŁ50 less than I could get them for on eBay without fitting. Then they've done today's repair for free too.

Tyres due Friday! :thumbleft:

Hopefully a typo on the tyre size!

Brilliant service, this is how to keep customers happy, spreading the word and coming back!

Nissan, TAKE NOTE!!

Booked my D40 in to try to get it fixed :(
No fault codes, no EML - but periodically cutting out completely or going into a limp mode plus erratic idle and acceleration.

At least the chassis hasn't snapped in half... yet...

Nothing exciting, but yesterday was the day one of my gas cylinders ran out just before baking up some croissants. I have a duo Gaslow refillable system, which we normally fill on the fuel station forecourt with a filler on the side of the 5th wheel, but no point uprooting it when pitched up. Anyway, one bottle is easier to fill than the other, so best to refill that one before using up both cylinders. Spin off the nuts for high pressure fill & the feed to regulator, remove straps, bundle the cylinder into the back of the pickup, strap to inside of tub with a truck-tie, and fit the fill adapter and Portuguese LPG adapter.

So I drove to the nearest "Autogas" fuel station, about 5km, clipped on the LPG hose and started to fill. Except it was filling at 1litre per 5 minutes. Something seemed wrong as I stood there holding the button; 32C, and sun beating down on me, having expected to have been on way in 5mins. Turns out the huge LPG storage tank hasn't been used for a few days and has stood in the sun, and apparently it then pumps ever so slowly. Leave it and try again in 5 mins was the advice I was given by the lady at the counter, which worked - it filled the rest at normal speed.

Anyway got back to the 5th wheel, refitted the cylinder, gas working fine, croissants served to wife, who then said, 'why has your nose got all sunburned by just filling up with 20 litres of gas'? Too hot to explain to her, but then that 20 litres has lasted 5 months, and at €0.61 per litre, cost-wise the whole cylinder was about 1 day's worth of gas in my last UK house, in the winter, so I'm still smiling.... :)

Next time you should post some pictures! You have a D40 Navara, a 5th wheel camper, you visit many countries, yet no pictures? :grin2:

Reading you story, I was horrified to hear about the potential Croissant-Gate. The thought that you and your wife might have to forego such a breakfast delicacy concerned me deeply.

I was relieved to see, that in spite of the challenging climatic conditions, that you were able to rectify the situation.

Yes, a tough time for butler/handyman !
I imagine that if I turned up with a gas cylinder on a garage forecourt in the UK I'd have been stopped from filling it. A truck helps I think.

And I recommend Lidl croissants down here....

I am packing for my three-week road trip to Ayers Rock.

Swapped my two spares onto the front wheels and swapped the rears left-to-right. The BFGs are wearing beautifully and at 36,000km are probably only 30% worn legally speaking (min legal tread depth is 1.5mm), but are realistically about 50% for off-road use.

This was the first time I have wound down the under-tub spare and it had a lot of rocks and mud built up on top of it. Might add that to future post-off road washdowns.

I also discovered my uber-expensive digital 80 channel Japanese Icom UHF CB has failed. Power is arriving at the unit but not at the remote handset which controls it. I could spend $250 replacing the handset to see if the main unit or the handset are at fault, but as this may not fix it I think $400 for a complete replacement may be necessary. Harrumph.

For my departure tomorrow I will resurrect one of my older GME analogue 40 channel handhelds. Not really essential for this trip but helpful to talk to road trains to plan my overtakes (or once in the Northern Territory where they're allowed to be faster than me, help them plan theirs).

Other trip prep includes inflating my suspension air bags, putting a second spare wheel on the roof, charging my second battery, and loading recovery gear into the tub.
