Hi all, just picked up an ex demo NP300 Tekna Auto and am loving it.

i need to get a 12v output put in the hardtop to run a fan for the dogs.

Dealer has quoted £225 to do this, but wondered if anyone had managed to do it any cheaper?

Also, i have had a Nissan towbar fitted by the dealer, but when indicating, i get no audible or visual notification that the trailer is attached (all lights working on the caravan, so it is working). I spoke to the dealer and they didn't know it should make a sound or the trailer attached light should come on which i find very strange as in the handbook it states this is exactly what should happen! Anyone got any experience of this that can offer some advice please?

Regarding the trailer sparks you have got to have a dig at the dealer. They supplied the vehicle I presume, fitted the towbar etc. therefore have a legal responsibility to see that the regulation re audible/visual alert is followed. Plus you must have some sort of warranty.

Can't help with the fan but I would have thought a local auto electrician would be able to fix that. Be wary of picking a supply up from the interior light (if fitted in the hardtop).

Sorry can't be more helpful than that.

12V outlet:
You could do it yourself for a lot less. In many markets the NP300 includes an outlet in the tray, so this wiring exists already.

If you need someone to do it for you because you're busy, I'd say it should take a pro 2 hours max and a few quid in parts. Not sure what your average auto electrician charges but £225 seems excessive to me.

Trailer wiring:
Can't tell you how the light is meant to work because I don't have one, but it is VERY common for dealers to either use cheap third party harnesses instead of the genuine Nissan one, or install the Nissan one poorly.

Either will prevent your car's computer detecting the trailer. Depending on spec level that may in turn lead to loss of trailer sway control and not disabling rear parking sensors.

It sounds like yours is not working correctly and, as a dealer-fit accessory, this is a warranty job.

Im not a auto electrician but its pretty straight forward diy 2 hours tops and £15 max for a socket/wires and fuse holder

Just a thought has your trailer got led lights?

I use several trailers both normal and LED it acts the same with all of them . There is no legal requirement to show they are working ! They do show you if they are not working though.
If the OP wants to be sure take an indicator bulb out of the trailer and see how the Nav reacts to show.
I have a genuine Nissan harness so know this is correct. They are plug and play.
