Cleaned the chassis and underside yesterday, then spent most of today injecting/spraying the chassis with waxoil and ankorwax mix..2x gal tins.
Made sure if had a good blethering with the stuff. So hopefully its now more than ready for the winter months.
Although I will probably give it a little tickle with a bit more waxoil before the really naff weather hits.

Also fitted some EBC Pads on the front.
Had some of Milners rear shoes delivered today, so as soon as I get a decent day I'll be out fitting those and the stainless cybox cat back sys.

Now time for some Xbox..

So the nav is now sporting the new cybox stainless steel exhaust, rear brake shoes changed and front bearings adjusted.

Exhaust was pretty simple fit, although tight for space by trans mount. Its no louder than the oem item which is nice, and at least it shouldn't ever need replacing..
New air filter going on in the morning.. And maybe another dose of ankor wax in the chassis if the farm supply store is open.

Fitted a new popup headlight washer bracket thingy majig to stop it falling out the bumper every time it washes. Think the headlight washers are draining the washer tank so fitted anti siphon valves in the lines, yet to be confirmed to work. Seen people delete the system but I can't do that.... would bug me that they don't get used when they are fitted

Pathy was in for a major service yesterday at the dealers. They reported the rear pads were almost on the metal.

Dealer wanted 340. I nipped round to the motor factors and ÂŁ117 quid later and an hour or so of my time I have new rear brakes.

Also cleaned all the bits the dealer missed when they washed it yesterday (which is most of the car)

haven`t done anything since the waxoil underneath, but tomorrow (Monday) I`m fitting a stebil nautilous horn, fed up of being invisible even with dips on!!.:rockon

A l200 pulled up alongside me a few weeks ago with a side exit system, I couldn't believe it as it actually had a rumble coming vfrom it!! I asked him what he'd done to get the rumble he removed the cat and dpf.

I thought about cat delete but its a d22, its diesel, I don't welly it and didn't need the extra hassle of modding the cat..
I think freewheeling hubs would be more beneficial to my driving style.

I don't believe the d22 has dpf??

The egr blank, regular air filter change and new exhaust have improved the already great mpg I was getting..to around a consistent 37-38mpg

So an MOT failure then.....
Everyone knows that louder means faster, right? Not.
That's another thing I'm trying to keep simple..
No they don't test emissions on mot, but I don't need the hassle of cat delete.
I'm too busy trying to keep it rot free and on the rd.

Lol louder means faster..
Yeah like all those cherrybombed escorts n cortinas in the 80s..
Going nowhere fast, just loudly.

We are getting quite rare on here now, us D22 owners.
Yes there is no DPF on a D22.
There is no real benefit in removing the cat (you may get slightly quicker spooling of the turbo if you are a 'racer', but that's about it), with all the discussions on NO2 pollution I can see the cat becoming a MOT test item in the future, if it's not there and working, it'll be an expensive failure!
You'll be well surprised the difference FWH's will make, the truck will drive more like a rear wheel drive car, front axle drag and noise will go, an indefinite front prop (known to be an expensive weakness) life will be another huge benefit.
Another 'good' upgrade would be to fit Monroe Adventure dampers, my wife is totally ignorant to a car's workings, after I fitted the Monroe's (unbeknown to her) the first thing she said following her first drive of it was, "what have you done to the truck!" the handling really was that much better.
Like you I get 37-38mpg regularly, however I am now running tyres two sizes larger so according to sat-nav my speddo is pretty well accurate, I once got just over 40 on the standard tyres, but the higher overall gearing now prevents this ambition.
Are you still using the mechanical engine fan? Removing it will help reduce fuel usage slightly, and warm up will be quicker.
I went electric years ago, the reduction in noise from under the bonnet was noticeable, even with the stat on the coolest setting it has never operated automatically, D22's are massively overcooled for the UK.
Re: Air filters.
Have you blanked off the hole in the nearside under-wing shield? This is immediately below the intake for the engine air intake, it is pointless, all it does it allow dirt, water, leaves, dust and debris that is thrown up from the wheel to be sucked into the filter box!

Absolutely nothing!

I had planned on washing and polishing it, but the Mrs wanted hers doing first. Then when it was time to do mine, she decided she had other jobs for me to do!
