To counter my posts concerning the faults with my truck I thought I'd add this :)

The fuel economy is awesome! By far the best of any of the 7 jap pickups I've owned. Genuinely capable of 45-50mpg (actual not TC) on a long steady motorway run and still getting good economy (34-36mpg) in short local shopping trips. It is approx 15% better mpg than my B2500 despite weighing 200Kg more. I've done 3K miles in it now and economy is getting better all the time. It should improve even further come summer with warmer weather where I don't need lights and heater on or need to sit demisting etc.

I should point out that I use Shell Vpower fuel. I'm not sure it gives better mpg, we use it in all our trucks simply because they seem to run quieter, smoother, have better throttle response and don't smoke as much. (we also use it in our classic Land Rovers).

Ride quality is also best of any truck I've owned in unladen state. It is a real pleasure to drive. I can now get into our works car park without breaking my back going over the vicious speed bumps. It is actually far superior ride quality to our Vauxhall Corsa!!!

The mid range acceleration is excellent, a dream to drive on motorway, effortless overtaking even up hill. Most times don't even need to drop out of 6th. Easily a match for many saloon cars and has surprised a few BMW's. Actually a bit too easy to rapidly pass the legal limit. The engine pulls well from 1500rpm once moving so will merrily trundle around town in 4th or 5th where previous trucks would be in 3rd or 4th.

I've done a few 300 mile long motorway journeys with the whole family on board and can honestly say the NP300 has been just as pleasant as any saloon car including several executive saloons I've owned. My kids find the rear more than spacious enough, certainly more spacious than any previous vehicle we've owned. They also love having their own heating vents! The numerous power sockets including one in glove box is a godsend for family motoring these days as there are so many phones and games consoles to power!

So despite its faults, after 3K miles our whole family is really starting to appreciate its benefits and can honestly say my wife and I are enjoying driving it.

Oh, it also looks good too!

This is a good review, it sounds like what my van will be used for. I'm looking forward to getting mine in a couple of weeks. I've asked else where, how are the LED main headlights on these dark nights?

Hi knitware, sorry, mine has halogens because it is an n-connecta not the top spec tekna.

The halogens initially felt poor but they are better now after some adjustment AND believe it or not by simply dimming the dash binnacle lighting so it wasn't so bright! I found the instruments were causing partial night blindness, having them very dim at night made the headlights seem brighter as my eyes could see more of the road. I know it sounds daft but it honestly worked.

PS. Knitware, I suspect your concerns regarding headlights will be same as mine. 90% of my 80 mile commute to our head office is on unlit roads. It is not main beam that is the problem, even the halogens are excellent on main beam.

The problem is on dipped beam. Often the unlit roads I drive have constant stream of cars coming in opposite direction so can't use main beam but they are high speed motorway or A roads so I need dipped beams that focus the light approx 100-150 feet up the road and to the left so I can see where the actual road is far enough ahead to be safe at 60-70mph.

My main problem with the NP300 halogens dipped beam is not their total light output but the fact it was setup by the factory to provide a wide spread of light but over a short distance, so I could see great detail in hedges at either side of the road 40 feet ahead but couldn't see the (more important) kerb/road edge 100 feet away. Different people have different interpretations on what you mean when you say 'how good are the headlights'. I think you require same as me, good long range focused beams on dipped.
