Hi and welcome :thumbleft:
You can get some really cheap tuning boxes on ebay, they look well in there cardboard box`s as they don`t work well on the the truck that`s where they`ll spend all their time

Which one?

The cheap ebay one? My engine went into Limp mode and I had an HGV trying to get friendly with my backend...

LOL, yeah, the eBay one.

How long after having it did it go into limp mode? What setting was it on?

Did you sell it before you got the PDI? If not, did you try it in conjunction with the PDI?

If I recall correctly it started happening about 3 weeks in. Temperature changes seem to be the correlation when this happens. I think the when I chatted to some on here about it we all could relate it to dramatic change in the ambient temperature. Basically it was possible to keep it stable all year round, but you have to turn the power so low that it is not noticeable anymore so what's the point...Alternatively you'd have to adjust the box constantly to avoid limp mode, i.e. you can turn up when cold and turn way down when warm....

No I did not try in combination with PDI, I sold my eBay special only three weeks ago to a guy with a Ford for ÂŁ22 ;-) The eBay seller wouldn't respond funnily enough to my request for help or refund....It was this one http://www.ukdiesel.co.uk

I ran a TUNIT box for along time way more power than the dte on it own with the best mpg. Also ran it with the dte together for 50k. Good box but more money than a dte. Sold it to Pd1971 he is getting good power and mpg on his auto D40.

Yep, was just going to bring it up that you had it with no problems.

So some fuel rail boxes DO work then, it's just that they cost a little more.

Why not have a RS tuning remap done. Plent of power and torque on tap. Fuel mpg is up from 24 mpg to 32 mpg and down to 24 mpg when been heavy footed.

Yep, to the OP, remaps are good as well.

navara1, once I've got some spare cash, I'm going to sell the DTUK, go up north and get a remap from RS tuning. Oh, first I have to get the exhaust with full decat as well.

Thanks for all the advice lads.

Are we saying that a remap is better than a dte or similar and that the cheap boxes are no good because of over heating and reliability issues. Does a remap or box effect the warranty as I am considering buying an extended warranty from Nissan for my 07 D40 ?

The advantage of the DTE unit is it can be removed in minutes and cant (as far as i know) be detected once removed thereby keeping warranty's intact.
