Hello I have on 03 d22 navara

I have an intermittent fault of randomly tick over is around 1.5, 2k revs, which has progressively got worse and worse, before i could leave it ticking over for 5-10 mins and it would reset and be fine, then engine warning light has now started to come one.

it has been to Nissan about 7 times now, they keep on saying its the throttle pedal, which i have change 3 times now, so obviously not that, nissan now scratching their heads!!!

it now wont drop down just ticks over at 2k revs!!!!!!

help has anyone heard of this before or any suggestions

Could it be some sort of short with the heater switch??

Was thinking the same matey as this button makes it idle around 2,000 rpm! or maybe its in the "ON" position!

Does the D22 have throttle cable or fly by wire or even a idle controll valve???

Couldnt tell you mate. Until it happens to me i dont really investigate

unpluging the heat switch should tell if its a short in the switch. tho if it was that i would expect it always to do one rpm not different rpm's (ie do 1.5k only not 2k as well).

these are totally fly by wire, no idle control valves.
i would also check your fuel, fuel filter and egr valve. bad fuel, blocked filter, air in the fuel lines or a stuck open egr valve can mean poor performance that drops idle. ecu compensates by pouring in more fuel. when fault clears you get high idle until ecu can compensate again.

thanks for the suggestions guys, i removed the heat switch this didnt work,

it doesnt always stay at the same 2k sometimes sticks at 15- 16 17k revs.

i am going to try and get the actual fault code that nissan dealer saw?

it now doesnt even reset after leaving tickover for 10 mins which sometimes worked by resetting the iddler

It has also had a full service and all filters changed!

any problems with it driving over 3000 rpm? if any stammering neutral switch may be going and idle reset may not work if its faulty.

Early days yet but hopefuly mine is fixed. Did the EGR valve blank a while back so checked the blankoffs and noticed some oil dripping out of the air manifold side ( I know the turbo seals prob on way out ) and some soot around the EGR blank. Found the bolts on the air side about 1/2 mm too long and not sealing properly, Shortened and refitted. Did the same with the EGR bottom bolt and put some exhaust gasket paste on the gasket. Started and let it idle untill the revs dropped and hasnt done it since ( about 3 days now ). Prob jinxed myself now and will all go pear shaped soon.

Check your air inlet seals you might have a leak.
