i bought a navara aventura in nov 09 (06 dci) clutch went after 3 weeks. nissan dealer told me crankshaft had broken needed complete short motor + clutch +flyheel+timing chain guide/tensioner. total cost £8500 after a lot of hastle nissan uk agreed to supply parts foc as goodwill gesture. garage still charged me £3500 labour charges.4 months later timing chain broke braking camshaft and damaging valves, pistons ,conrod ,head, oil pump,etc.only done 2500miles but nissan dealer says its not their fault as they didnt put a new timing chain on. waiting to hear from nissan uk for a "goodwill gesture"dealer says a new engine will cost £12000 been to loads of garages and they all say dealer should fit me a new engine foc

If they aren`t going to pay for repairs tell them you are going to seek legal advice immediately.A good second hand engine for a couple of grand or so 700 hundred in labour and you can have your truck back on the road,under no circumstances give the Nissan stealer 12k

I would reject the vehicle, i think that's your best option under the circumstances.

Get yourself an independent engineer. Will cost you £3-500 he will help you enormously as you are not an expert (ie you are not expected to know that the timing chain should have been changed, Nissan are). He wil report, guide you all along, and if you speak nicely to him he may monitor them during repair so that they actually do what a)needs doing, and b) what they say they are doing.

I can't see why not?, if it's not fit for purpose etc, i'd at least get some legal advice mate. You could give citizens advice a call, they'll put you straight on your options, whatever happens i hope you get it sorted out :wink:steve-windows said:
