So I've got a mobile window tint guy coming out this week, I was just wondering if anyone has a picture of a NP300 with all the glass at the same level of tint?

I know most have very dark on the rear and nothing on the front ... I'm thinking about going max UK limit all round?

If doing driver/passenger side windows (or windscreen!) be sure to tell your insurance company.

It has been known that in event of a claim (even with a 3rd party when it was their fault), the transparency of window glass can get measured to check it is within legal limits if an assessor notices anything non-factory-standard.

And your mobile tinter will also need to be sure there is a decent margin to stay legal - tinting is not always that precise in terms of optical transparency measurements.

Your front windows will probably already be at the max UK limit. Usually, anything more than factory standard will make the tint too dark. You certainly can't legally have them as dark as the back ones are out of the factory.

Even if the tint guy tells you different, do your own research if you want to stay legal. The tint guy just wants your money.

Legally, windscreen must let at least 75% of light through, front side windows must allow 70% through. Like I said above, most cars are already close to this limit out of the factory.

No rules about rear windows

Thanks for all the input.

I'm thinking about going UK legal limit (75% light in etc) all around opposed to what Nissan do which is go very dark on the back & rear and nothing on the front.

I'm very unsure though! I'm looking all over for some images and cant find any ... I have a terrible imagination!!!

It’s not nothing on the front, it’s the legal limit, which is usually the top 10% or sun banding.

It’s not illegal for him to tint your fronts but it is illegal for you to drive it like that on uk roads.... I really would do your homework on this before going ahead!

I don’t doubt it would look good though!

As mentioned above the fronts are already tinted the only reason you dont think they are is comparing them to the rears
Before you believe what the man trying to sell you something says ,get him to sign a disclaimer that they will refund you the cost if you are made to remove them. The fitters meters are notorious for being mis calibrated to say the least.A lot of traffic(police) cars carry meters and what they say goes. They will just make you remove them .

It's also illegal to fit or sell incorrectly tinted glass. Or, for that matter, sell a car with glass tinted to illegal levels.

Well my truck is bottom spec so at the minute doesn't have anything front or back.
I think after looking around going limo black on the rear window and then uk limit front and back would look good?! I'll get some images up when its done :)

Very few vehicles have absolutely no tint on them. I'd guess the lower spec ones come out already with the front legal limit all the way round.

I'd get them checked with a calibrated meter first if I were you.

The safest route is to just leave the front alone.
