I still have a rattle at tickover where my exuast is touching the heatshield. When on the motorway at around 70 i start to feel hear a humming noise, at 85 mph exactly it kicks in properly and is very annoying, what is very odd though is that if i dip the clutch at that speed it still does it, so that should rule out any drive train issues and the heatshild rattle.

Is it it just a case of getting underneath and tugging at stuff to see if anything is loose, or may it point at a wheel bearing, or something upsetting wind flow :?:

Loose internals in the cat maybe or still the heat sheid bolts loose. There a **** to tighten has they go right round where the hand may not. ?

Ill get it checked out when i can, moved sites now and no where near the garage i liked. May just hold on to see what happens with this OBD remap and have the tuner fit the decat and tune the truck and check for rattles all in one :thumbright:

Now speed your mate up with this hard pipe stuff, its been months now

Warpa,

why did you put the cat back on?

Trip
With the remap it gave the turbo no back pressure, still need to find time to get the map taken off and a new one done with the decat back :salute:

I had a look under the truck tonight while the mrs revved it just a bove tickover to get the rattle to start. Well 1st thing i found that may have been causing me wind noise was one of my cleaning rags from doing the engine detail

I had my wrecking bar and prodded and poked trying to find the noise, holding the rattle from the exhaust i could stop it, but could not find where its touching. Just as i was giving up i saw a nut that felt tight but the washer was loose which means the nut is, but by that time the engine was too hot for be to get the socket set in there (well awkward place to get)

Will get back under there tomorrow but i cant see this being the problem, only tightening it will tell

Well the rattle at low revs has gone, but the vibrating or humming at high speed is still there :? Im wondering if it could be one of the damaged wheels im using atm even though its balanced? Failing that it must be drive shaft related?

What can i check for to see if there is play or binding? It free wheels no probs and wheel bearings feel solid, i do have a load of play in the front prop though. Any ideas? Its also definately coming from the front and i would say center.

For those old enough it sounds like the front wheel bearing gone on my old cortina
