Evening,

My power folding mirrors have ceased being folding after the recent frost. I’m thinking either a blown fuse due to trying to open against frozen unit, or, the switch is gubbed. The mirror positioning is still ok so i’m leaning more towards the switch (I’m assuming it’ll be the same fuse for both folding and positioning).

Real issue is currently my mirrors are stuck in the closed position, I can force them open on the spring but that’s not ideal as wind/forward motion folds them in again. Does anyone know if I can manually move them to the open position?

Bound to be the fuse. I think it will be in the upside down fusebox near the turbo.
Common sense would say so, initially just figured i’d blown the fuse due to working the motor too hard. Guess the current involved in moving the glass would be lower than driving the entire unit open/closed so separate fuses are a possibility.

I’ll have a look and post what I find, really cold outside so might need to build up to it.......:grin2:

OK, turns out it’s a 10A fuse in the glovebox fuse box (labelled mirror helpfully) and it was indeed blown. Changed out and popped again right away so something more fundamental than just frozen mechanism. Blowing instantly points to an earth fault rather than just seized.

Had a quick look at the hinge but it seems difficult to get to the actual motor. I don’t have time just now to go too in-depth but still left with the problem of being unable to extend my mirrors. So is there a way to open manually?

Nice one, thanks for that.
First thing will be to identify which mirror is the issue then go from there.

Eventually got around to checking this out and it is the drivers mirror at fault.
Quick google search and 1st choice parts put me in touch with a breaker who have a replacement in my colour for £112 delivered (Nissan wanted £288 and couldn’t tell me if that was painted or not).

Getting delivered tomorrow so i’ll get it on and, hopefully, be all good.
