Greetings from The Netherlands, I'm introducing myself to comply with forum rules and to say Hi.
I'm Dennis, and I've recently bought a 2005 Navara King Cab, 2.5 Diesel 175hp.

First things I've done to it where:

  • intense interior cleaning session: the truck belonged to a farmer so it was sandy/dusty/muddy inside :)
  • Replaced (and upgraded) the winch as that wasn't used, ever.. so couldnt be fixed.. Installed a 6ton winch instead of 4.5, and it has wireless control.
  • Although a truck with dents and scratches, I completely detailed the outside: foam, wash, clay, clean, polish, wax.. Just to make it nice.

Previous owner changed:

  • Installed high-end speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers.
  • Chassis strength upgrade kit and rust protection.

Coming todo's:

  • General service maintenance (next friday).
  • Order and install BFG KM3 (mud terrain).
  • Replace glas (front is cracked, sides are matte).
  • Coat entire underside against to project against rust.
  • Install a 2din Android Auto headunit.
  • Figure out if I want a hardtop, softtop or tonneaucover (it came with a roll up one, but removed it as rain water gathers on it.)

Thanks! Happy to be here, feel welcome and share my Nav stories.

Today is a good day, I got lucky for some reason! I was driving along and received a notification on my phone: One of my online searches had a hit.
After a phone call and a short (40 min) drive I got home with a nice Hardtop and Stainless steel roof rack!

Obviously it has to be painted in the correct color, but i'm pretty happy as it was dirt cheap and in very good condition.

The side panels can open/unlock with remote control. And the roof rack has stainless steel supports that mount on the truckbed walls so the load is not on the hardtop.

For looks i'll be shortening the legs of the roof rack to make it more flush with the top of the car. And i'll probably paint it black.

So an unexpected nice upgrade... Very happy.

Nice score.

Rack will be handy too.

I'd like a heavy winch, I'd use it to pull parked cars away from the garage door at my mother's house.

You say the roof load is transferred to the top of the truck bed? Be careful, this is just folded steel and isn’t very strong.

You either need to distribute that load along the entire side rail using a doubler plate or rail, or continue the structural support down to the floor of the tub.

Unless you aren’t going to carry much weight.

Not the actual top of the truck bed. The supports go down into the bed to distribute load. I'll make pictures when it's all done and mounted.
This install had a hard life on the old truck so I'll guess it will work pretty fine. Currently the roofrack is beeing chopped because it stood 15cm (5.9 inch) above the roof which is ugly. I'm having it cut down to 5 cm (1.9 inch) to have a clean an flush fit on the roof. It will probably be finished end of next week.

This week I've had a new airco condensor installed so its nice and cold again. And also the entire car was checked to see if there where any problems, but all is OK.
I've ordered BF Goodrich KM3 Mud Terrain tires and they should be delivered in a couple of weeks, and also the replacement glass (frond and sides) is ordered.. So want to have that installed soon.,

Nice truck you have there! And nice hardtop you found. Didn't see this model until now.
Do you have pictures with the old roll up?
How did you clean the carpet? I'm thinking on removing the seats and whole carpet to clean it thoroughly, as i can not get rid of the smell.

So, I've got some updates:

  • Roof rack was installed without modifications. The guy that was doing the cutting and welding didn't have time for it. So it still sits way high on the roof looking ugly. But i'm going on a trip so I'm going for practicallity instead of looks.

Although: if I don't need to carry stuff on the roof i'll drop it off anyways.. still haven't decided.
  • The new glas was installed (front and doors). Looks nice and clear.
  • Next friday the KM3's should be fitted, and thats the day I leave for my trip.
@cosmin01:

I first vacumed everything to get the large particles out. Then I used a fabric foam and a soft brush to lift the smaller particles. Dry it and vacuum it out.
Next step could be to use a steam cleaner so do some deep cleaning. But I'll do that after I get back from my trip. As it will become dirty anyways :laugh2:

As winter is approaching quickly over here I'm happy to have another update:

I have finally completed the modifications on the roof rack:
It has been lowered and to still be able to open the (black) side lids on the canopy the width has been cut.
Also the upright bars are gone, and the entire thing is flat black powdercoated. So now its a nice slim/stealthy roof rack.
I've also had the Thule Outride bike racks powdercoated as i didn't like the silver.

The same process was done for the side bars.. The mounting bolts were rotten and the coating was falling off.
So they got a nice new powdercoat also, and all the mounting bolts are replaced.

Furthermore all the shocks on the canopy lids have been replaces as they were worn. So no more lids falling on people's heads.

Next up is to upgrade the power cable going towards the back. And I've just ordered some small bits and peices:

  • folding key fobs to replace the worn stock key fobs.
  • 2din to 1din insert frame, so that i can properly mount my Alpine radio
  • OSRAM nightbreaker laser H4 and H11 bulbs
  • Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades

And I'm browsing online to find some replacement interior trim pieces..

So the new bulbs are in, and although it doesn't look like it on the photo and in daylight: they are much brighter and whiter than stock.
The new Aerotwin blades didn't fit as they sent te wrong ones. Tomorrow I'll pick up the correct ones from the shop..

Some other changes:

I've ordered a 2 DIN to 1 DIN conversion kit.. As I had this radio installed back in May but it was done in a rush and it didn't fit right.
Now it does.

Also I've received my new foldable keys.
I've had them cut, and installed the electronics. They work great.

Also the Aero Twins were installed, but I didn't make pics of that.

So this weekend I went off-roading in Germany with a group. I took a buddy along as co-driver / spotter and it was our first time.

It was really muddy and awesome! But we only have pictures (and video) of the easy bits as my buddy didn't want to get out the car to take pictures on the tricky bits.. haha

63654

Not stuck, just waiting. Was able to get going with no effort.

63655

The landcruiser was just parked like that.. there was another group coming up from the other way.

63656

After getting home the entire thing could use a good wash.. :)

63657

I even steam-cleaned the interior to make it look nice and not so muddy again.. :)

63658

This weekend was awesome.. The Navara is a very capable truck and we did not get stuck. It was awesome to be able to just crawl up steep muddy slopes and dodgy corners.
Learned a lot! And know that we'll be doing this more often in the future. :)
