One of my favourite rants - neither!

Wind deflectors are of some use in countries which have monsoons, ie enough rain to fill up fill up the doors and overwhelm the drain holes at the bottom. In the days before wide use of aircon you could drive with the windows cracked open in the rain to clear the damp air.

As for wind deflection, what purpose is that apart from allowing you to flick a *** end out of the window without it blowing back in?

They are a pointless accessory which create more wind noise inside the truck and make it look like a J reg Shogun grey import. (Pajero)

I disagree but enjoyed the rant. [emoji1303]

I had written a similar response but ended up deleting it earlier.

I have fitted Heko wind deflectors (excellent quality) to five of my own vehicles. None of them were Nav's. The only vehicle which didn't like the 'in channel' fitting was a Audi A4 B7. They were on my mod list for this D40, but since learning that my rear regulators are a little tired and slow (I think this is common), I didn't want to restrict them any further.

A mate of mine has a new Hilux with the stick on type deflectors. I must admit, it does look good.

No use other than styling. And if that's what you're after, either style certainly do the job, they both look good. But, from a mechanical pov, I wouldn't like to recommend one type or the other due to the window restriction thing.

I would rather have a machine gun mount on my kayak that a piece of brown perspex on my window.
Yeah, I agree, the kayak gun rest was superb.

(Heko is actually cheap black perspex,)

I am pretty sure I am sensing a whole new level of dislike for these things, Landmannnn....!

Yeah. Me too.

Now here in the land of skippies n fluffy killer koalas the 4x4 crowd don't usually have deflectors on the doors.

The only defector is the on the front bonnet.

Most of the vehicles here have tinted windows because in summer you can cook an egg on the dash.

Also my A/C is never off. In the summer it is running at full blast. Winter time I turn it down by one click.

Yeah. Me too.

I didn’t even know you could turn off the AC

But what about THE SPIDERS!?! How do you deflect them?

I'm not scared of spiders generally but damnnnnnn!!! That's a nasty dash mod.

Seriously, you would actually have to burn the car if it got infested. Or gas it maybe to save it? What's the protocol out there for creaped out cars?

Spiders? Well, if I'm quick enough I catch them in a Fowler Jar. Then when I get home I get some nice dark chocolate and melt that. Then add the spider. Only about 10-15 seconds is enough to kill the spider. Then remove the dark chocolate covered spider out of the pot and consume. Do start at the legs. easier to consume.

Enjoy.
