Engine oil

Hi ... apologies if this has been answered before, had a quick look and couldn't find the answer. I have just bought a 2016 Navara - so it's a 2.3 188bhp version. Looking in the owners manual am I right in thinking it is the YS23DDTT engine so will require 6.3L (inc oil filter) of ACEA C3 SAE 5W-30 oil?

Happy to hear anyones suggestions as to which brand oil also. I don't do a great deal of mileage, maybe 7-8000 a year a mixture of short and long journeys but always change oil once a year regardless of this.

Hi I put Petronas Syntium 5000 RN 5w30 C4 in mine.

Me too.... it’s made for the Renault engine! Perfect match. I drop my oil midway between services as the 18k is way too long for my usage.

Thanks, I'll look at getting some Petronas Syntium 5000 RN 5w30 C4 then. And a quick check on the internet tells me the oil filter I can get is a HU 6011 Z Mann Filter.

Also I'd still like to know / confirm the engine code ... still assuming mine is YS23DDTT - thought I might be able to find this on a sticker / label or something in the engine bay but not been able to.

It is indeed fitted with the YS23DDTT, Also known as the Mercedes OM669 or the Renault M9T.

In other markets the D23 is fitted with the older YD25, but not here.

I would just use a genuine Nissan branded filter, plenty on eBay and the like all around a tenner.

Your truck is still under warranty and if the worst should happen you’ll be wanting genuine parts on it to make sure any claims are honoured.

Thank you - interesting that as I'd not thought to call my local Nissan dealer. Turns out the oil filter is only £10 + vat and the sump plug washer is about £1.50 + vat. So I'll just get them. Oil arrived today, so with any luck I can get the oil changed this weekend and be happy knowing that's one less thing to check for a while. Might as well take a look at the filter element whilst I'm at it :smile2:

It would be worth doing the checks listed as part of a service too. Eg all the oil and fluid levels
