I'm going to be honest, just been reversed into by a Pug 307, and the navara rear bumper folded like weak tin, such as the bolt support to the chassis frame has penetrated the steel chrome bumper inside out, not seen that before and wouldn't of done on my 2013 d40.
There's something quite not right with the d23's, they're not as strong as previous and the engine isn't what I thought it would be either having last week put in a 1Lt bottle synthetic oil at 8 k miles to the midway mark on the dip stick finding a glug of emulsified white oil in the cam housing filling point. Does any body else find the engine noisy and chattering like tappets in a can under acceleration. I love the vehicle and the design , it's like chalk and cheese to old models.... But it's lost it's robustness in the making.

There have been many comments about lighter build of the NP300 early ones even had body panels dent with people just leaning on them . My 2020my one certainly feels a bit more sturdy ,it come with the territory when you are chasing economy as logically getting rid of weight is the easy way.
As for the oil use it wouldnt worry me it is relatively common in new engines. The engine does indeed sound chattery if you try accelerating in to high a gear and the turbo cant spool up. I have found you need to use the box more in the newer ones .

Regarding the oil consumption modern oils are so good that when engines are new if you treat them kindly the internals especially piston rings don't bed in 100% and can result in higher than normal oil consumption. Modern diesels if initially driven a bit enthusiastically (not abused) when new seem to use less oil than those that are pampered. My Nav was towing 3500 kg with only 18miles on the clock and 16k later has not used any oil. The emulsification you mention could be down to short runs.

Yeh both my NP300s when picked up the dealer said to give it some welly for that reason.
