After wading through lots of heater issues all of which have so far not resolved my cold heater.

Had coolant bled and refilled twice.

Head gasket tested fine plus no smoke from exhaust and no overheating engine

Both heater hoses at the firewall get nice and hot

Took return hose off at firewall and checked water coming through. Checked water pump by revving engine which produced a nice gush of extra flow

Self diagnostic returns 00

No water or damp in passenger footwell under carpet

No coolant leaks

Air gets very slightly warm but now its winter its still useless.

Do I have to take the dash completely to pieces to get to the air mix door blender? Could it still be this after diagnostic returns 00
Ideas welcome.
:dunno ????

Is there a thermistor which may be faulty and is this easy to replace?

Re: Its winter and its Cold!! Heater not working.Tried all s

Ok. I know you said it has been bled twice but I think it is worth being 100% sure that this isn't the problem before diving into the dasboard. The procedure is quite specific.

The thermistor is behind a little grill on the centre console, passenger side.

Has the cooling system been pressure tested?

Is it worth trying a back flush with a hose on on the heater return outlet or maybe filling the reservoir to the brim trick?

Re: Its winter and its Cold!! Heater not working.Tried all s

It sounds like the mix door stuck/or the motor broken inside. It's not always picked up by self diagnosis as it can only show electric fault not mechanical. I would say next step is to get to the motor, take it off and turn the flap mechanically and test it.(Sorry for the bad news :( )

Check the drive side mix motor first (easier to do):
Removal and Installation of Air Mix Door Motor (Driver)
REMOVAL
1. Remove the instrument panel side finisher.
2. Remove the lower instrument panel RH.
3. Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly from the steering member.
4. Disconnect the air mix door motor electrical connector.
5. Remove the three screws and remove the air mix door motor.(It's located on the bottom, close to the front of the heater unit.)
I hope these helps you to go in the right direction.

Did this resolve the problem? I had exactly the same issue but in reverse- the heater was stuck on hot. Turned out to be the air mix door motor, the tiny little motor inside had packed up. Nissan wanted about 60 quid for the motor- I ended up buying a full heater system from ebay so if you need any parts I have a load of spares!

I have a D40 with the same problem, no hot air only a freezing cold. Was your problem solved? I didn't want to go to Nissan.

The answers to your problem are all in this thread, the most likely cause is an airlock in the cooling circuit. Bleed/top up the coolant via one of the heater hose(s). It should only take 5-10 minutes of your time. If you are not mechanically minded go to a trusted garage, there is no need to go to the main dealers.

Maybe put a vacuum cleaner on the grill to remove any fluff or hair, them spray contact cleaner through the holes.
It might help.
The other thing is to make sure the cooling system is bled. Simple job, take off the expansion cap ( not the radiator) and leave it to idle for 10 minutes.

Took off the sensor and cleaned it. Looks like it works... Thx for the help
