Hi all,

New member here and hoping someone can guide me.

I have an 08 automatic D40 Nav. Yesterday morning the cruise control stopped working, the light comes on but it won't set. Then yesterday afternoon the srs light started flashing. After years of no warning lights, you would think the problem is related. I have tried the key reset sequence for the srs but that doesn't appear to work.

After reading around, it could be the clock spring? Would these two issues point towards that?

Hello and welcome to our site.
going by your description it highly likely its the clock spring in the steering wheel!
It's well documented for causing both these faults! (Although unusual for both to appear at the same time)
Of cause its not exclusively the only thing that could cause this, but it is the most common!
If you can get the srs code read I'll bet it comes back as "drivers airbag circuit open"

Thanks for the welcome mate and also the reply. I'll go ahead and order a clockspring and see if it fixes it. Will report back.

Once the clock spring is changed you will need to do the key reset again!
It's very exact second timing dependent so might take a few attempts to get into the code flashing sequence.

Hell yeah! Just got around to changing the clockspring and for someone not very mechanically minded it ended up being a breeze, may have taken just over an hour all up. Everything went as expected including having to reset the srs warning and even that worked first go. Now cruise works along with everything else as it should. The clock spring was just a $60AUD ebay job.

Thanks for the guidance, much appreciated.

Edit, I should give credit to the youtuber whose video I followed from go to whoa. There were a couple of slight variations, but as a whole the procedure was the same

Nice one 👍
