Help. I have been driving my cheaply rebuilt truck as in I did it myself.
New shell bearings new Conrod new rings. I never replaced the timing chain or the tensioners and now have a grinding chain scrappie noise. Can the aux belts really sound like a timing chain /tensioner failure.
I had to drive it about 8 miles to get home kept it under 2000 rpm. I still have to strip it down again to getthe bottom cover off but was wondering if there was anything else I should check first. Oh it's d22 2002 yd25ddti. What the the pitch distance maximum measurement?

Oh and the top chain is tight and the timing top half is still right as I have taken the timing cover of the top and will strip down to remove bottom cover after removing(slide back) gearbox to get those damm ten mm bolts.
I did notice a inspection hole but don't think I can see enough though it to find the fault so will just strip it down oh and a bit of angle iron is the best tool for holding the flywheel btw.

A strip down is the only way to check really.
