Hello everyone, we currently run two Nissan Navaras withing our company to attend work sites in the Scottish Highlands, both 2007 plates with around 70k miles on the clock. One has been a delight and the other an absolute pain in the neck and we've lost the rag with the local dealer as they can't seem to address the continuing problem despite saying they looked into the issue.

Two problems with the one Navara:
1) Lack of power - no smoke, noises or loose/split hoses that I can see. I've not seen the dealers diagnostic machine or know even if it threw up any codes other than when you compare our two it's like night and day the power difference. I keep meaning to switch the boost control solenoid over from the "good" Navara to this one to rule that out - other than dirty filters what else could be the issue? Is the flashing of the 4Lo issue related?

2) Flashing 4Lo sometimes even if in 2WD - seems to go away if we switch it round to 4Lo then back to 2WD. I've done a search and found it could be low level oil or damaged switch? What else should I look out for?

Thanks in advance for any feedback, hope I've given enough detail.

Hi, ref first may be boost pressure sensor, second is gearbox switches need taking out and cleaning or replacing. There is a thread on this in our how to section

We sorted the 4Lo issue thanks to your advice but the lack of power is still there. Diagnosis in the dealership shows no codes which leads me to think the sensor hasn't failed all together but if it's the MAP or MAF I cant say? Is their a testing procedure, voltage figures, etc you can advise me on? Could I source cheap replacements from anyone specific?

Also: tried the neutral switch test with the engine heater switch and it appears ok as, with the clutch in, I noted no rev rise/fall with 4th gear selected.

Guessing it must be MAF or MAP sensor - will remove both this weekend and see what I can find.

Are you sure it's not limp mode???
Just odd that it runs fine for 3 or 5 miles and then power loss.
I've no idea who "mrvizz" or what his post is about but my Navara does it all the time, no good or bad days, continual lack of power.

I assume I'd have an engine management on if in limp mode? It uses the full rev range but just lacking power. Will have a good look over it this weekend.

See what codes are there with the key ecu method. Read and note any codes then clear the codes. Retest the key ecu method to see if all is clear. Take it for a run see if any differance if not cheque for codes which with some look will tell you what's playing up. Try to find what volts read on the mass sensor in neutral at 4000rpm it should be 4.0v

Shall carry out a ECU reset and see if any codes are in the system - does anyone have a list and how to determin the individual digits?

Where would be a good place to source either MAF or MAP sensors?

10 engine flashes 4 times in a row is zero zero zero zero. No code. Ten flashes two flashes three flashes four flashes reads a p0234 code if you get my drift. There could be more than one code. Just count the flashes and make note, this will give you a p#### fault code.

Reset the ECU and no change.

No restrictions on revs, no errors, just no power/torque at 2500rpm onwards.

I can be in third, floor it at 40mph, and struggle to get to 60mph - light mist of black smoke too.

No play in the turbo bearing, intercooler flushed out with petrol and all clips tightened to prevent any leaks.

Ideads people? Im clean out

The turbo sound like it not spooling up at all. It's like it in limp mode all the time. Lack of power turbo fooked, fuel pump/commonrail, injectors, fuel leak, wrong fuel filter or bad fitting. Air filter blocked. Then there is ecu problem/wiring.

I'll see if I can get the VNT veins to move by sucking on the actuator. All the filters I checked and look ok. I suspect the issue is turbo related but no idea what - I suspect the engine would throw up errors if a sensor was faulty? Will also double check the vac lines.

Does anyone have a service manual/diagram they could post of the setup?

I am also having the same symptoms as this, have you rectified this? Sorry to bring up an old thread

If you want help, it would be of benefit to us all if you started your own thread.

Explain exactly what your symptoms are, what year and model you have, what mileage it has covered and what service history?
