Hi guys,

I have a 2001 D22 double cab, which has air conditioning. I bought the truck a few months ago and am slowly getting round to fixing it up. Need help with the air con though! There is an A/C switch to the right of the heater / fan controls that lights up when I press it but there is no noticable difference in air temperature.
Should I be able to hear an aircon pump or anything when I turn it on? Sadly this is the first car I have owned with A/C so I have absolutely no idea how to fix this :(

When you turn thr A/C on the engine revs should drop then go back to normal as the air con pump kicks in and out, does it do this? If not then your system could well be out of gas but theres a few air con experts on here that can help you :thumbright:

I would suggest taking it to a garage who can check the air con system for you , I had a couple of prices for testing and regassing from ÂŁ45 to ÂŁ65 . When mine was checked over they found it had a leak , needs a new pre filter dryer ÂŁ150 plus the labour , I was quoted ÂŁ350 to fix it , so I opted for the " wind down the window" method now when it gets too hot.

hi smellysheep6, if ur local to me near plymouth. as a fellow club member i will test it for free and if it just needs regassing will charge you half price( normally charge ÂŁ55).
same goes for any club member who aircon isnt working correctly.

simple check to do is see if the magnetic clutch pulls in and spins on the compressor if this is clicking in and out then the gas should be circulating round the system ,if its still warm in the cabin it may need topped up , dont go to quick fit cos they are numptees ,

Sorry for the late response, have been incredibly busy. Unfortunately I live up in Edinburgh but thanks very much for your offer, its very kind.
Jamie, sorry if this is in another post, but how do I check if the magnetic clutch is working?

Thanks again guys

Just had a proper look about under the bonnet. It would seem that the belt that connects the compressor to the engine pulley is missing. I'm trying to figure out if this has been done deliberatle yby a previous owner or if it has just worn through and fallen off. Another thin I noticed was that in front of the main radiator there seems to be what looks like another very small radiator. It has two pipes coming out of the bottom that are not connected to anything. Is this A/C related?

Sweet, should the two pipes be going to anything then? They are just kinda hanging off the bottom of it at the moment. Il try and get some pictures tomorrow in the daylight. Reckon nissan dealership is best bet for belt?

Managed to find a factors in Edinburgh that had one in stock! Have noticed that there seem to be two other belts running off the engine pulley, looks like these will have to be removed in order to get the air con belt on. Does anyone know if this is an easy job? Sorry for all the questions, im new to navs! Wondering if id be best taking it to a garage. hmm.

it looks like I can adjust the position of the water pump and alternator. So i should be able to move them just enough to get their belts off. What im now wondering is, does the air con unit also move in a similar fashion so that I can get its new belt on and adjust tightness?
