Hi Gos

Eight years of hanging on to this truck shows a lot of loyalty to the truck though especially with its history. :bowdown1

It is a pity you didn't come to us when you bought your Navara. I'm sure we could have saved you a bit of money when it comes to the engines and diff failures.

If you have had a refund on the diff work done previously it is time to move on and replace the whole axle for one from a breaker. Unlike the engine the rear axle on these trucks are strong and reliable when looked after.

Try http://www.thorntonbreakers.co.uk/ (forum sonsors so ask for a discount :thumbright: )

These are other specialist 4x4 breakers;

For the benefit of the members on here it would be appreciated if you were to tell us the history of your truck, naming and shaming the garages responsible for the engine and diff fiasco's.

If you visit the 'Introduce yourself' section you can tell us more about your truck (the good bits) and yourself. Include us your location, you'll get a warm welcome and advice more specific to your area :thumbright:

Hi
Thanks for the advice.
I got it at 14K miles in 2007.

First engine started knocking while I was working in Spain at 70K.
I'd had the usual warning letter from Nissan & just missed the extended warranty [ typical ! ] so had no choice but get regrind & new pistons etc in Tarifa.
I'll never let such mechanics touch any vehicle of mine again !!!!!
Parts were left off etc etc
Engine knocked again at 80K once back in UK so Nissan paid half short block cost [ Gee thanks Nissan !!!!!!!! ] and its been fine since although it prob might be best to get billcar appointment for peace of mind.
When the engine was taken to bits by Nissan main dealer it became apparent just what the Spanish had done ....OMG.....!!!!
Nuff said !
I thought that diff solution would be scrap axle so will prob do that now.

Although I only really kept the truck because I was waiting for Nissan to do the decent thing [ laughter rings out all over the world !!! ] I do love the D22 since the 4 X 4 has hauled me out of desert / swamp / forest all over Europe and its got good MPG & aircon & pulls a big caravan without knowing it's there !
It's also not fancy so I can chuck deer carcasses & all other XXXX in the back with dogs / hawks / guns and everything else and not feel guilty [ or smell them in the cab ] !

D22 rocks [ & knocks ]

Has the diff always been filled with the correct oil, it's a very common and costly error to put the wrong oil in.
What oil has been in it?
Diff failures are relatively rare.

Yes always had the right oil through main dealer or specialist service centre.
Never missed a service in 85 K mostly Nissan centre.
Always got diff oils changed on time or earlier.
I'm that sad that I even got engine oil / filter changed between services in recent years !
Still not sure if the new short block fitted by Nissan in 2013 will go bang without mods ?
Nissan of course say that these blocks have safe uprated parts !
Having spent ÂŁ10K in the last 2 years on engines / clutch / exhaust / diff / wheel bearings / neutral switch etc etc + the daft service interval I'm not keen to sell for peanuts.
I doubt anyone would buy without mods anyway even though the new engine's only done 20K miles.
