Can anyone advise on my 2011 drivers window switch issue please?

On the orignal switch bank of 4 the drivers switch has failed.

A genuine nissan one costs £288 +vat which i dont fancy paying.

I ordered a replacement off eBay however when it arrived and plugged it in and although all switches worked as youd expect the switch light remained on even when the ignition off. The manufacturer reckoned there was a short circuit somewhere so its been returned.

I did notice though that although the part ordered was apparantly the right one the plug port prongs were different.

The part number of my switch is 25401 5X01C which according to my local parts store has been updated to 25401 5X05C.

My question is does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced new replacement switch with the original oem part numbers as I can’t seem to find any online anywhere?

Thanks in advance

Hi, you didn't mention how your previous switch had failed, presumably as it's the drivers switch and likely to be the most used one, the contacts have become dirty or developed a slight carbon deposit from arcing when making contact.

It's probably worth investing in a quick squirt of servisol (switch contact cleaner). It's a lot cheaper than a new switch :) [ame]https://www.amazon.co.uk/Super-10-switch-cleaning-lubricant/dp/B001DQ1FHM[/ame]

I find this often brings switches back from the dead >:)

I am very envious of your location, lovely place Shetland.

Hi SarahLoyd,

Thank for your reply but unfortunately the switch is beyond repair as I tried that initially.

When you open up the switch unit the drivers switch has a variable position slide contact which moves back and forth when you press the switch up and down. This slide contact and the switch are joined by a very short linking pin. This pin appears to have disintegrated and would correlate with why the switch had little resistance when moving it.

I tried to make one to fit which initially worked but it failed after a few times of operation unfortunately.

Yeah Shetland is a great place but not for cars as the atmosphere is so corrosive!

Cheers
