Hi

I got some issues with my egr sensor, it started with the symbol in the dash.

I started with taking it out and gave it a clean, as its was covered in oil. No results even after i erased the code it came back after a while.
Then i mounted a egr block plate as sugested from a mechanic with a 8mm hole and still same result.

I have been thinking about replace it but it will set me back 300euros for a used one.

Anyone with this problem are any sugestions, this "problem" is getting me on the nerves..

Why has the blanking plate got an 8mm hole? Have you tried blanking the EGR off completely? Did you clean the sensor or the EGR valve itself? Sorry for all the questions but EGR issues have been covered on here many times, try searching through some older posts and you'll probably find the answer you need :)

Egr,s are the worst invention ever they cause more problems then they cure! It could just be faulty! It does happen
First thing I did was put a blank on mine
Do you know anyone with a nav/pathy that you could swop it with for a afternoon to be sure?
What year/engine as im pretty sure only the v6 needs a hole in the blank but I could be wrong? I know my euro 4 is a solid blank and ive had no problems .
As bob said what exactly did you clean and how?

the egr valve is a 5 wire sensor, so it has feedback on position to the ecu. if it doesn't go to the position it's asked to then you'll get a fault triggered regardless of whether it's blanked or not.
I'm wondering if it is his DPF.

Just re-reading what warning light? The egr doesn't have a warning light! Are you mistaking the dpf light?
