ENGINE NUMER

Hiya all.

May I ask a stupid question?

I know that this is going to make me look stupid, but I am really not technically minded when it comes to cars/trucks etc. I am trying to find out about the 'Con-Rod' issue. I know it is to do with the YD25 engine.

Its the darn number I cannot find. All my logbook says is: Engine Number (then a 6 digit number).

As for the number on the vehicle, where is/what does it look like the Alternator so I can find the number?

thanks

Assuming you are in the EU and your engine number is before YD25DDTi 219661 in your log book or found above the alternator on the block, then it is at risk - d22's with yd25 2.5 tdi engine (2002-2005), especially around the 60,000mile mark. However it can happen at any mileage and regardless of full service history, so if you have a D22 of this age it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that this work is undertaken.
If you look at the engine number on a machined part of the block approx 50mm x 30mm immediately behind the alternator it will be stamped YD25 plus your engine number.
you may need to get a toothbrush on it to clean the plate up a bit

That 6 digit number on your log book is your engine number.... so if its before 219661 then its at risk.....

Also what year is your navara???

Pop the bonnet, looking from the front the alternator is on the right, belt driven size if a paint can. You'll need a torch The no. is on the block behind the front of the alternator. The nos. run in two columns vertically, you may need to wet the block to highlight them a thin stick with a bit of cloth or something. You're only really interested in seeing whether it is a YD25 or a TD25 as the no. in the logbook is your engine no. One lucky bugger found his was a TD25 just a week or so ago.
