Hi all - Right here it goes...! I'm a very loyal Honda owner, I have owned 2 Civics and my recent is a 2.2 ctdi CR-V. I have done over 120,000 miles in them combined without a single problem. But I now need a bigger car... and for that I need to move over to a different manufacturer!

Now here it comes... I love the Navara... and I would really like this as my next car. It has to be the Aventura, and in Silver...! I've been looking at models with less than 40k miles on for about ÂŁ12-15,000.

Main thing I have to ask is engine/model... I've been reading about the Euro3/Euro4 models... am I correct in saying that the Euro 3 are 05, 55, 06 and 56 plates... and Euro 4 is 07 onwards. I've read that the Euro 3 feels faster and has better economy... but this is the engine with all the problems....?!?! If I want as low risk of problems as possible should I be buying the Euro 4...
I've heard about new Navaras going through 2-3 clutches before 20k miles and engines blowing up at 60k... is there anything I can look for or do to avoid this!! Would an extended warranty from a third party cover these problems?

Other thing is about load space in the back... I'm an electrical and data engineer so carry about ÂŁ2,000 of tools and equipment with me, and I'm worried about the dryness of the back... I'm looking at the mountain top... as this looks the best... but is it very watertight...? Am I right in saying that the hoods are the best bet for dryness?

I'd really appreachiate some help... I've done my research and still want to go ahead and get a Navara but the extra info would be great!

Thanks, Adam

Welcome Adam, you know your stuff with the euor3/euro4 stuff so thats all good. Some early navs had clutch issues but most were sorted under warranty(dont get to hung up on this as many manafacturers also had a bad batch of clutches). Its the old style Nav that had the engine problems so nothing to worry about there. As for the load bed i have a snugtop fitted and it keeps things plenty dry enough :thumbright: If you need any more help then have a look through this site mate, everything you need to know is here.Hope this helps :)

Hey Joe/lil-t,

So am I right in saying there could still be some 07 plates with Euro3 engines?? Or could there be 56 plates with Euro4 engines...!? lol

Personally would you buy the Euro3 or Euro4...?
Yes it's posible mate, the best way to find out for sure would be to give the reg or Vin number to a Nissan dealer, they could tell you whether it's euro 3 or 4

Personaly i like the facelift model (July 07) but would much prefer the Euro 3 engine set up, for performance and economy, best of both worlds so to speak. It looks like they've done just that on the latest 2010 facelift model?

I HAVE DONE IT!!!

Just put a deposit on a 56 plate silver Aventura.... 29,000 miles... Mountain Top back with load liner and carpet lined... with rear parking sensors... ÂŁ12,700 (In at ÂŁ12,999). Dealer has thrown in a 12 month warranty! Anyone want to take me from Surrey to Leeds on Saturday? lol

Yep that's what sold it to me... it was a such good condition inside and out compared to some others I'd seen!

Been told it was owned by a farmer and his wife who used this to get to town and back and to transport hay (yes the back was full of bits of hay! lol). They had an old discovery for farm work or so I was told!
