I have been asked to help a good friend who has a garage. He got a 2007 D40 Navara in with a snapped turbo shaft. The car had been driven through deep water (On the bonnet) when they got out of the water they put their foot down and the car drove out, once it got to the top of the hill the turbo shaft snapped.
My mate replaced the turbo ($2500 ish) and it ran for a few days before it snapped the shaft of the new turbo. I'm thinking turbo vane control valve, dump/diverter/bypass valve or MAP sensor. My mate in the garage is worried as he does not want to put another turbo in.
Please help
Graham

That sounds like a strange one, i woudnt have thought the shaft would snap so quickly just because of the vains being open
Was there any evidence of water in the airfilter/pipe work and has the airbox been emptied out if so

The car drives ok, there was no problem before driving through the flood, now it sounds as if when it is going full chat and the throttle is closed the turbo stalls--To me it sounds like the Dump/diverter/bypass valve could be stuck shut. (not sure on Nissan terminology--i drive VW)
