How do I check for broken half shaft ?
Uj and prop look ok to me !
It only makes the knocking noise while pulling off and you can hear a whistling / grinding noise but only faintly at 60mph ?

Do a full inspection of both the propshaft(s) and their UJs before stripping anything down. Jack the front and back up checking the drive system for any slack. The cause will probably be obvious when you spin a wheel.

Pulling off the rear plate from the diff may show if there is any broken bits.

To remove the diff from the axle you need to pull out the halfhafts anyway. If one is broken it will be obvious.

Rebuilding a diff is quite an involved process that I would leave to a specialist. If the diff is knackered the used axle may be the easiest option.

Good luck and keep us posted

Check your oil level,
check your rear wheel bearings for noise/play (handbrake off & front wheels chocked)
Check uj's (grab/lift/twist in 4 directions)
Check play in diff bearing
Does the noise alter on acc/over-run?
Does noise alter on cornering?
Any oil around or in the rear drums?

As eddmurphy explained, it will die very shortly if the diff is knackered.
