Hi im a newbie with issues 🤣 Well my 2007 2.5 D40 Auto Pathfinder has.

Anyway the problem has become worse over the last week and some 300 ish miles. It started one day when i drove 12 miles to a destination where i stopped for 10 minutes. When i then tried to start the car the starter solenoid was not engaging. The RAC was called out and they got the car started by putting 12v+ to the solenoid. I drove home and realised that the car was in some kind of limp mode because it was in one gear and didnt change. I investigated the fault further finding that the gearbox ECU fuse had blown. I disconnected all cables from the gearbox and replaced the fuse to see whether it was a cabling issue or gearbox device issue.
The fuse stayed good so i connected each devices one at a time rechecking the fuse as i reconnected each item. The fuse remained good and has been ok ever since.
This may not be related to the idle issue.
Coming back to the current issue, whilst driving for less than 3 miles the car engine would suddenly die when coming to a junction/roundabout etc.
I could immediately restart the car after first switching off the ignition.
Once the car engine was warm the issue appeared to clear. However on a couple of occasions and whilst the engine was not at full running temp the car would loose power upon acceleration going into a limp mode kind of status. And again .... once restarted would run without fault especially by the time the engine was running at correct temperature.
But now.....the car engine wont idle. I removed a tuning device that i had connected in line with the fuel rail incase it was causing the issue and reset the Ecu via the accelerator 10 second method thing. Still no good.
If i switch on the high rev switch (engine warming switch) the car starts and idles at about 1500 rpm but as soon i put the car into drive the rpm drops and the engine stops.
The only way to coax the car is to keep one foot on accelerator and use the brake to hold the car whilst putting it into drive....not a great idea though as no doubt it would ruin the gearbox and drive items.
I would massively appreciate any help with any ideas that could lead to solving the issues above.
I know.... its a big ask

Further investigations: I let the engine run with the heater switch on for 10 miutes to see if (once warm) the engine would drop to idle . It didnt. So keeping the accelerator pressed and switching off the engine heater switch i slowly lowered the rpm. When it got to 1000 rpm the engine cut out completely. Just wondered if this might give more clues to the issue with my pathfinder.

Welcome

Yourp problem (at least your pathfinders stalling ) is that the Suction Control Valve has failed. It needs replacing, about £90.

Fairly common, lots of posts on here if you do a search..

The other issue is probably not related.

Hello again. Today i replaced the SCV but still no joy. I then did the pedal diagnosis test and it showed P0336 and P0581 indicating that the crank shaft switch and cruise control are faulty. I already knew that the cruise control doesnt switch on suggesting that the clock spring might be faulty. Tomorrow im going to replace the crank shaft switch, do an ecu reset and see if the car will idle. Ive noticed that the crank shaft switch also effects the cruise control so fingers crossed that sorts out the idle issue and the cruise issue.
