hi i have the 2006 D40 and cannot get to the bottom of this problem, between 1000 & 2500revs there`s a very loud tapping noise so i`m led to believe is injector tapping, when you put your foot down beyond 2500 the noise disapears then comes back in at around 4500 to top end,my machanic had a look said it was no1 injector so we replaced it but it did not cure the problem,on checking again he said the tapping had moved to no 2 injector so we replaced this also but still the problem was there,so the car was then taken to nissan main dealer they said it was no3 injector so we changed this one aswell, but the problem is still there if not more louder than ever.this now is costing a fortune and really really doing my box in,has anyone had the same problem as me and what the hell can it be. :( HELP !!! :(

You got only one injector left to replace… :) I do hope dealer entered the injectors coding into the ecu!

I have a simple way to find which injector is knocking: using a scanner, I simply cut injector operation one by one, while driving in conditions knocking is most noticeable until I can pinpoint the faulty injector(s)..

One more thing, bad fuel can cause random injectors knocking that’s make it difficult to pinpoint an injector…I would look into it first.

Nissan put 12 new injectors on mine and the tapping was still there, also at about the same revs as op's. It made me wonder what they were thinking by keep replacing them instead of finding why they kept fooking up....never did solve the noise so i sold the truck yesterday and got another :?
