Hey guys I just got a Uniden UH7700NB radio with a AT770 ant and was wondering if there is a best way and place to install this? I have the 2010 ST Manual and was thinking of fitting it to the dash infront of the gear stick, just under where the ash tray would normally be.
Has anyone had any issues with fitting it there?
What is the best route to run the cable for antenna, I have a steel bull bar with mounts on both right and left.
I have read a post on another forum saying you can't just replace the steel whip on this antenna for a fiberglass one either, has anyone tried to do this or have any knowledge of this?
Cheers for your help in advance.

Thanks guys, I had a quick look on the other forum and there is a bit of help on there, the one on here was very in depth but nothing was installed where i will install mine, but great post. I have a good idea of how I will be doing it, I will make sure I get some photos and I will write up a guide for others in the future, I will be doing it in a week or so.

Thanks Spi78ke. :)

Buzza:
Someone else asked similar question about CBs a few weeks ago. Here's a link to save me writing same stuff again:

About the coax to the antenna: if you are mounting on/near the dash, you could run the coax through the grommets on the bulkhead. In the link I just gave I mentioned one and Kasey mentioned another in the passenger footwell.

I've my radios mounted under the back seat and if you follow Spi78ke's link you'll see how I brought in my coax.

About replacing the metal whip with fibreglass:
I don't know what type of metal whip you have, but you'll have to use an antenna of correct (electrical) length. If the fibreglass whip you want to use is for the correct UHF band, there's no reason why you can't replace your current antenna with it (as long as it has the same type of connection)

Hope this helps,
Tim
