Ok so i picked up an aventura a few days ago. Don't plan on doing much to it but i do have a few questions...

1. How do i turn off the seat belt warning alarm, if there is no way to do it other than disconnect a wire then which wire is it?

2. In the headlight it looks like there is a square orange cap around the indicator bulb, is this easy to remove.

3. Not doing many mods but where would be good to get the following:

Mats, velour or similar
Roller cover thing for the rear pick up area (cant remember the name for the part!)
Chrome or brushed alloy door sill covers

If anyone has any ideas for a few tasteful mods they would be appreciated.

oh also i've noticed that the fuel economt is shown in l/100km, i've never seen it displyed in a car like this before, why is it different in the navara and is there a way to change it to mpg.

Hopefully i'll be checking out the forum now i've finally got the car and am back on the net.

Hi and welcome

Seatbelt warning:

You can't turn it off, however there is a small white plug under the seat, you can disconnect this, but be carefull as on some models this can trigger the airbag warning light to flash
I use a ground down old seatbelt buckle in mine, much easier and no plugs to disconnect

Indicator bulb cover:

Not sure on this as i've never tried to remove it, why would you want to?

Mats:

I had genuine Nissan velour in my truck, they looked great, but then they should for ÂŁ60, the drivers one didn't last very long, started wearing quite quickly. So i replaced them with a set from Costco, they're twice as thick as the genuine ones, they fit well and cost ÂŁ20. You can get similar universal ones from Halfords.

Roller cover:

Roll N Lock, Armadillo, Pace Edwards, Jack Rabbit are all various types and makes of roller tonneau covers. I have a Roll N Lock which i'm very pleased with, many members here have them and the Armadillos which seem very popular. Jean Paul, a member here has the Pace Edwards remote control bedlocker, it's very swish, looks a nice piece of kit, at extra cost

Door sill covers (Entry kickplates):

Definately brushed, whether it's alloy or stainless steel as chrome will mark far too easily

Cheers Steve

For the metric fuel economy you need to go into the settings on the satnav and you can change it to UK imperial from there.

Look through members navaras, or type in mountain top etc into the search button. A lot of pictures of parts that have been put side by side for others to look at while asking their advice 8)

Thanks for the help guys, guess i'll just have to get an old seatbelt clip and plug it in, thought there might have been a way round it like there was on my old rr sport but oh well.

I was going to try and remove the orange indicator part out of the front lights for a cleaner look, done this on a few of my cars but i'm trying not to go down the modding route too much on the navara, if i start taking lights to pieces it will just start me on a slippery slope to modding everything.

As for the mats, i want some specific fit ones so i guess ebay will be the way to go, price seems to be around ÂŁ40 ish delivered so will look out for a good deal.

Same goes for the roller cover, there seem to be a couple on ebay. Whats the going rate for something like a roll and lock cover. There are a couple on at the minute but neither have reached their reserve and i don't want to be paying over the odds.

The 2nd hand roll and lock and mountain tops go for around the 400-450 mark.

Pretty sure i know the answer to this but just checking that any seat belt clip will fit into the seatbelt thing. Will be off the scrap yard tomorrow anyway to see what i can borrow.
Mine was from a 95 Corsa, i ground it down so only the blade was left, when it's plugged in, you can hardly see it.

If you're not sure what will fit, just get a piece of paper, draw around the shape of the Nav buckle, then take the paper with you to the scrap yard, and then you can match up with anything you fancy

there are the two bolts along the top of the slam panel and im sure the other bolts will be behind the bumper as with most cars so the front bumper will have to be removed.

I'm now in the middle of hard wiring the tom tom. Where abouts under the steering column would be a good place to get power from. It would be handy if someone could tell me maybe a particular connection block in this area with negative and ignition wires and what colours they are.

Bit of a thread jack, but why would you want to drive without your seat belt on? I cant even get in a car without putting it on. I dont even think about it. My seat belt has saved my life at least twice now, and i wont even let passengers in my car without a seat belt on.

Some owners are using their Navs all day for all kinds of jobs (offroad at low speeds) which might involve constantly getting in an out of the truck. So a seatbelt is not really essential in those circumstances.

I'll try and get a diagram posted this evening on how to remove the bumper grill etc
