Hi guys, nice forum you have here, hopefully you guys can answer some of my questions and offer me some advice.

I'm looking to buy a navara outlaw new shape maybe 2005/06

I was told that navaras have a cam chain rather than a cam belt so these never need changing, is this true?

I was looking at l200 warriors but heard loads of people have had engine problems with them, what are navara engines like for reliability?

What sort of mpg would I get out of an outlaw 2.5td?

Thanks in advance :)

Brad

the navaras have chains, but the are prone to stretching/failure unless you change the chain to a duplex type, they have way more power than an l200 and the euro 3 engines do about 34 mpg.

Hi mate thanks for the quick reply,

at what millage would you recommend changing the standard chain to a duplex type?

34mpg sounds pretty damn good to me for a pickup.

How would I know if a navara has euro 3 engine?

Cheers :cheers2:

as soon as you get one if you can afford it. i haven't bothered doing mine and it has 124k miles on it. no problems so far but mines may have already had it fixed. the 05 to late 06 engines had the euro 3 engine which has a silver rocker cover and a small cat.

however they had half shaft seal problems so make sure you check for sticky rear brakes and oil leaking out of the drums. its not an expensive fix however. also note the euro 3's had 174 bhp 3 more than the newer euro 4's.

can't see anything wrong with that mate. just have a look at all the common faults on this forum and when your viewing dont be too quick about it, take your time, make a checklist first, check the paint on the roof etc. that one looks well looked after anyway.

Hello and welcome.

As d22-outlaw said, have a look in the "Thinking of Buying" section. There's loads of info about what to look out for. It'll help you find one in good condition, or if you find a good truck with one of the common faults, you could get it at a good price and fix the fault yourself.

Thanks for your reply, yeh I have read the "thinking of buying" stickies for the d22 and d40 after which I have decided to go for the D40.

So i'm looking for a D40 outlaw or aventura with a euro3 engine (05-06) for economy in black with leather interior.

LOL can't get much more specific than that I don't think lol, i'm in no rush so will just keep looking until I find one that matches that description.

I would go for the one in the link above but it is a private seller and i really need a trade seller as I would prefer to PX my astra sri cdti to save the hassle of selling.

here's the astra...

The rocker cover is under that big plastic cover. I can't really see in that picture, but it looks like it could be silver, which would make it a Euro 3.
