Had planned this weekend to drop the sump and have a quick look at the bearing wear on the engine as the 6 month warranty runs out on the 11th May, stopped the truck last night then went to start it again about an hour later , turned the key and it turned over very quickly . Removed the top timing cover all chains there and no slack , but the lower one has lost its drive. Looks like it could be a busy day on the phone

Hopefully Ok truck going to UK parts in west brom on saturday for them to take a look at , could not have asked for more as it was sold as a supply only engine and under their 6 month waranty it should have been upto me to remove the engine and return it to them . Should know more by mid week what the problem is , my guess is the key way

Having only dealt with uk Parts on the phone when i bought the engine and the problems i had with them about one or two things with the engine , I did not really know what to expect ( having seen the pics of SMK s yard) , a very neat and tidy clean garage must have been over 6 cars or 4*4 in there.

They hope to start on the truck Wednesday

As to why if its the key that has failed it would only need a tiny bit of slap for a start and would soon get worse with the stopping and starting of the engine it has done nearly 5000 miles since it was put in , this play in the key way would also account for the poor starting I had put this down to the glow plugs and have a new set which i was going to fit this weekend

Here is their web site just to prove that garages that do this sort of work do not have to look like a breakers yard like smk http://uk-parts.eu/

Was looking forward to getting truck back , rang today and got an answer i was not expecting " its your radiator " thinking they had me mixed up with someone else i said that mine was in for a waranty engine , she then explained that they put reason the cam chain had failed was it had overheated due to a blocked radiator and therefore would not be doing the work under waranty. I know for sure it never over heated , starter still turned crank over therefore not siezed or pistons picking up due to overheating, could be a long phone call i am going to stick with what they offered me last week after they first looked at the truck to see if it would be under their waranty a new recon engine and 6 months waranty and ÂŁ200 to fit i agreed and was told it would be ready the end of this week

Here is the latest update decided to take a trip to uk parts on the thursday morning to get things sorted out as i was going on holiday on the saturday. Got there as they were opening managed to get a few pic of my truck parked out side with some of my engine parts thrown in the back , was given a copy of the results were they had sent the rad for testing basically just said 40% blocked . So i asked to see the engine I was taken next door , was shown the crank the key way had failed and that was it they could not show me the block or pistons as the block had already been refurb and sold . :bom: :cheers2: Result they had no option but to give me a recon engine under waranty and another 6 months waranty
