Nav had her MOT this morning. 55 plate euro 3 Manual with 73k on the clock and she passed with no advisories. Absolutely delighted. For info, 3 years ago MOT'd as a class 7, last 2 years as a class 4. Question, has anyone else seen the ridiculous new style, very easy to forge MOT certificate? Black ink on plain white paper with no embossed stamp. Apparently government have provided garages with printers but garages now have to supply paper and printer toner. Nice saving for the government, but not the garages!

MOT booked for Tuesday, will spend Monday checking it all over
Don't think the paper trail will last much longer as everything will be on a database, and with so many cameras around will ping up as soon as you leave home, and it's easy to check a vehicle's status online

I agree, it is easy for the police and insurance companies to check the validity of an MOT. However an individual looking at buying a car from say a private seller cannot be so confident when provided with the new style MOT certificate. A further check will now have to be undertaken. And anyone who has tried to 'phone the DVLA knows how quick (not) that 'phone call will be!

You can check online with the reg no and mot certificate number. There is an Android app if you have a smartphone..

TBH i think in some ways the new certificates are better as the advisories are on the same page so cannot be ripped off, I brought a car through college for a project from a dealer in Blackburn, they had it MOT'ed and when i went to pick it up they gave me the certificate i had a look and sure enough it said advisories issued yes but there was no sheet attached I could even see where there had been something stapled to it, at that point the sales persons English reduced somewhat ended up ringing the MOT centre they printed a new one off or should i say a new 3 pages of advisories
the old certificates weren't that hard to forge in reality at least the new ones don't lead you down a false sense or security and more people might be tempted to check
