With respect, noticed no mention of upgrading the engine.
ALL the above will be pointless, and a waste of money if the engine lets go!
I would recommend you read the available threads regarding blown engines on here.

Easy job if you're pulling the box to do the clutch anyway.

Its done 106k miles so far without failure surely if it was going to go would it no of happened by now?

Thanks

Crack on then Mate.
PLENTY have taken this gamble and lost!
Do yourself a favour, BEFORE you spend your hard earned on pretty things for your truck, and do some research reading up the horror stories freely available on here.
The advice you have been given has been earned the hard way from many, many owners.
Your choice now, by the way these engines usually let go at 60 - 80,000 miles, if they do grenade, given the age of D22's now usually means they are scrap!
Still you can always Ebay the pretty parts, should you be one of the unlucky ones?

Take the advice of Chris Vince seriously as he has forgot more than most of us will ever know about the D22, it was him that wrote the rule book regarding the upgrade.
Mine went at about 100k for its second time so there's no guarantee it will last by the way the first repair was by Nissan so please bear that in mind if it has already been repaired.

I purchased mine last year and the engine had already gone pop at 120k , I got it at a good price though and billcar put in a new unit and clutch but it wasnt cheap. But the truck itself is very clean with full history and stamps so all in all I got a good truck thats hopefully going to last a few years. Weighing it up spending 4k on the d22 and knowing the trucks good or spending that on a high milage d40 and not knowing what problems are coming my way. I did alot of research and there are cheaper engines everywhere you can replace yours with if it does go but billcars reputation speaks for itself, you get what you pay for I guess. I wouldn't go ploughing money into yours unless your sure that engines bulletproof
