Hi hoping someone can help me my engine in my D40 Navara is problematic it had a mis in acceleration I cleaned a fuel lines tank filters etcetera it seemed to progressively get worse under acceleration surging no power and hunting almost like it's fuelling then off fuelling can anyone tell me maybe where it's failing also my son in law planned the air flow sensor with fuel or diesel i think i know that you shouldn't use switch cleaner i'm thinking possible fuel pump failure of some form

The MAF should be cleaned with proper MAF cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. The things that damage it are carb cleaner or brake cleaner.
On addition to the guide above, worth checking all the intake hoses for leaks or splits.

Just a thought it might be the suction control valve, had similar problems with my D40 struggling for fuel then running fine
Replaced the suction control valve and it was the problem,
worth looking into
