Navara Non-start

Hey Guys,

Sorry if this is old news but I have had a search but couldn't find anything similar..... here it goes!

I have a D22 Navara with a Bosch VP pump on it, the customer took it to a local garage who diagnosed a faulty pump and replaced it with a new one (unfortunately they also broke the clip on the ECU multiplug, making it difficult to remove). However the non-start condition still exists, the vehicle will start on a bump or with easy start but once she starts it is flat until (I'm guessing here) it pulls the air through.
I have removed, cleaned and checked the resistance of the crank shaft sensor (561 ohms, which according to autodata is within the limits). I have also bypassed the filter and filter housing and still she does not start.
I have changed the return valve in the side of the pump.... still no change.

Unfortunately, our Autodiagnos or KTS wont go into her at all, we could plug into the back of the pump but we're not too keen on trying to remove the multiplug without causing any further damage! So without any fault codes, I am at a loss.

Does anybody have any ideas??

Thanks Tom

Does the airflow meter have any role during start?
Just curious because I have a YD25 powered van with the same problem (no start). However mine has now set a code (CEL flashes) and I haven't bought the cable and software to read it. This van has consult plug only.
no airflow meter on these, only boost sensor.

one thought about not starting, possibly low voltage. poor battery or poor connections and starter motor is dragging voltage down to low so ECU cuts the fuel. also check the earth's.

Both my YD22 and YD25DDTi have airflow meters.
navara's didn't get airflow meters till the common rails. your car may have as some places have different emission requirements for cars than commercial vehicles.
also the car engines may put out more power hence need maf required for more accurate system.

Hi guys, thanks for your suggestions...

I've managed to get into this navara with a Carman Scan VG+ No fault codes..... everything seems to be ok on the live data, so I am thinking its probably a pump timing issue. Decided to let the customer take it back to where the new pump was fitted to be checked.
