The truck today stalled on a level crossing with the kids and mrs in and would not start !

It's been stalling at random but more just first thing in the morning. Will often run fine after its warmed up....

Am I correct in thinking it may be this part?

The mrs won't use it till its fixed which is understandable...

Yes. The pipes are all on the right way round. But it did it before the filter change so its nothing I have done I don't think. There was an air lock in the clear tube last night (fuel wAs still pulling through though ) but it stalled twice when cold then ran ok all night. It's def worse when cold.

Apparently any basic obd11 reader will work on it which I thought wouldn't so I will get one today.....
Was going to take it to the garage but I could do with one any wAy for other vehicles . Will try that first.

The way forward in my opinion is to plug it to Consult (or equivalent scanner) and check data monitor to see what goes missing when it stall. It does sound like you have a more difficult problem than something simple. Try to find a good garage with diesel knowledge to sort it out.

Booked it into a garage. They are not near me but I know they are excellent.

It stalled this morning, left ignition ON and started it. stalled again, tried again and the time between starting and stalling becomes less each time as long as i dont turn the ignition off. untill it won't start...but

If I turn the ignition Completely OFF and start the truck it will run for a while then stall again.

So it must be resetting a sensor or relay or electrical device somewhere.

News update:

It's been in the garage a week and they cannot find any air entering the fuel lines. Nothing is coming up on the code scanner it's all clear.

They have reset the ecu and its still stalling after 20s when cold. It's only stalls in idle though.

I am at a loss now and I am thinking I may have to trade it in...

It's a shame as I like the truck but I can not have it stalling.....

Any one else any ideas.

It sounds so much like the SCV issue problem that it makes me wonder whether the new one is faulty or the O ring has got damaged in the fitting process.
That was my problem faulty new SCV, no fault codes

I really hope you bottom your problem.
I went through a lot of fixes including timing chain modification.
Before I found my issue.

Well changed the fuel hoses on the filter and it still stalls.

I have

Cleaned the maf
Blanked egr
New fuel filter
New air filter
New scv
New fuel pipes and clips
Ecu reset

Putting SCV aside, you said the engine runs the same disconnecting your MAF, I'm not telling you how to suck eggs but.
When you plugged the connector back on the MAF, make sure you have pulled it on fully home, mine was very hard to click home on my old MAF, on one occasion I thought I'd plugged it in correctly, but had not.
Where are you in the country, I have a spare MAF, if you want to try that.

My truck was doing exactly the same.
On the new SCV, what colour is the end cap on your new one?If its grey or beige some have been known to be not that reliable from new.
The latest SCV made by Denso has a dark blue/ Turquoise end cap.
