I have a 1998 Navara which I am running around as our Amateur Swimming Club Ute.
D21 motor and the Temp. gauge does not work.
Is there an aftermarket unit I can get or a real one.
Or can the unit be fixed.
The Nugget gets along well for an old column shift.
Would really appreciate any advice.
Thank you. Jeff

Temp guage should be an easy fix. They generally work with one wire connected to the sender which is normally located near the thermostat. Do the following tests with the ignition on but engine off.

The easy way to see wether the wiring or sender is faulty is to disconect the wire at the sender and put it directly onto the engine block ( earthing the wire ). If the guage and wiring is OK the needle on the guage will display maximum temp. This tells you you need a new sender, and it should be a cheap replacement at your local motor factor.

If there is no reaction to earthing the wire, get access under the dash and disconnect the wire from the back of the guage. Fix a spare bit of wire on the back of the guage and earth that on a reliable earth point in the cab ( door hinge?) . Again the guage should displat max temp. If it does replace the wireing between the guage and sender. If the guage does not react then the guage is most likely knacked.

Good luck
