You could have a dodgy connection, aerials still work even if there is an air gap between the connections, but will be heavily subject to interference.

My oem radio was always poor for reception. Although Radio 3 was always strong (not into classic concerts!).

I fitted an aftermarket head unit expecting it to be resolved. No.
I ended up getting an amplified aerial (not one of those inline amps).
Reception is now great, not sure why nissan don't fit an amplified version as standard.

Inline are useless, any interference is just made worse. I tried one .....

Autoleads do them at a reasonable price, I bought a more expensive one for £50. Don't get confused with dab amplified though.
